and the winner is
The winner far and above all from my tasting quest of two countries is:
Jumbo Seafood-both the Riverwalk location and East Coast Seafood complex location have excellent Sri Lankan crab. Fat and juicy, good chili kick and slightly sweet taste as I like it. My pick for next year. And the upscale location is the same price as East Coast. |
Thanks, Michael.
Interestingly enough, the first couple of these DOs were at Jumbo East Coast, but we got tired of the location or something. I've not tried either of the riverside locations of it, but they don't look as ... atmospheric. I'm afraid that No Signboard on the Esplanade didn't qualify for the atmosphere, either - it was just another restaurant. Live and learn. |

How is Sri Lankan crab different from typical chili crab served in SIN?
The Sri Lankan crab is the fairly large one with large claws. They can be up to 1 per kilo. There are smaller crabs available, particularly in Malaysian Borneo, both flower (2-4 per kilo) and mud crabs (3-4 per kilo) that are smaller, with small legs and claws. Flower is normally meatier and IMO tastier than Mud. The brown mud crabs are somewhat off-putting because of the name and color. -- |
BUMP ;)
What a great trip report ^. Sounds like you are a food and wine critic ;) - very well written and detailed accounts of all meals. I am totally amazed at how MUCH food seems to have been consumed in one weekend - WOW ;). I will have to have my stomach enlarged to keep up if I attend the next SIN DO :D. |

Coming to you from CowDo in Buenos Aires where the average piece of meat is at least one kilo. What you do not know is that OP weighs in at slightly more than 60 kilos with a full stomach. |
