BOS-IAD Ex plus

ExPlus is supposed to offer jetbridge boarding, which I was happy to take advantage of because of my gimpy leg, and I was pleased to see Washington Dulles on the sign above gate 21 - and a surprisingly hefty-looking plane, bigger than any RJ I've ever seen before, outside. Alas, it was the Chicago plane parked there, and we were directed down the dingy stairs to a tarmac approach to an ordinary-looking regional jet. An eyeball trip of the 2-row F cabin yielded the conclusion that it offers 3 or 4 inches more legroom than Economy but no more than bulkhead row 3, and I was pleased at my decision not to upgrade. Another passenger, a swarthy, suspicious type, decided that the cabin was to his liking, though: unsatisfied with his seat in the wayback, he asked if he could switch seats, and the pleasant but clueless FA said, sure, we're only at 31 ... so naturally he found more comfort by self-upgrading into row 2. Nonetheless, I felt no compulsion to emulate him, even after the rest of my row was taken by a less-frequent-flying family who managed to get on just before boarding time (curses, foiled again!) - an elderly grandma, an enormous ("around the house") ma, and a relatively normal-looking teenage boy who however had not washed in quite a while. I sighed, turned up the vent, and went to sleep. Only to be nudged awake by the kid kicking my leg: a quick glare and the incident was not repeated. Don't know about the service - slept through the flight. We landed at C24, and again no jetbridge. A bit of time before my shuttle, so I ducked into the RCC for a spot of breakfast, which most notably included the "BakerSource Assorted Danish Apple, Strawberry or Cheese." With my luck, I got a cheese one (impossible to tell from the outside what you're getting) - at least it wasn't apple or strawberry. A heavily iced soft round thing, also extremely sweet, with a blob of what looked like more icing but must have been cheese, with an aroma of wintergreen and an aftertaste of almond. One of these "no-natural-ingredients" offerings from Sysco. This six-bite indulgence hae 310 Calories and 15 g of fat. |
I love row 3 on the CR7 explus. I would never waste my money to upgrade into F there is almost no difference.
