Best travel Forums?
I know this is a good one. But I am looking for more. I am possibly planning on traveling the world. There was one I was looking at a couple of months ago but lost it. It was pretty active and had all the countries split up my regions and cities with people of those countries posting and aswering questions. ANy ideas
thanks |
Travel Forum
I really enjoy the Fodors forums. It is very active and you will be able to do a search for previous information on each forum.
|
tripadvisor.com is full of reviews.
|
Fodors and the forums on TripAdvisor are probably the best destination specific message boards on the web. Traditionally, Fodors has been the best and probably still has members with the most expertise for a given location. TripAdvisor just started up last fall, but has grown by leaps and bounds. Eventually, it will probably surpass Fodors, but not quite yet.

Lonely Planet's Thorntree has some interesting commentary, though usually from a younger and more frugal perspective.
|
Trip adviser is very good for hotel ratings and critique. Lonely Planet is quite good for general advice , although as mentioned before , mostly biased towards the budget/backpacker type traveller. However, do not discount this as there is a mountain of information on their threads.
It really all depends on what you are looking for, the type of advice you are looking for etcetera. |
Please visit virtualtourist.com. Best travel forum I have ever found. It is full of informations you need.
|
Another vote for Fodors forum. Between that site and FT, I can usually get just the information I need, from the exotic to the plebeian. Very helpful folks there too, just like FT! ;) and some of us in both places, posting and reading. As my daughter says, travel forums can be very addictive!

I second
www.virtualtourist.com not as active but with unusual info www.bootsnall.com Also, for travel journals and reviews www.igougo.com |
If you want to know what is currently going on in a area that you may be traveling to Lonely Planet fits the bill if you pose a question chances are it will be answered by someone who is there or just returned

I would also reccomend tripadvisor, especially for hotels - I've chosen hotels based on the reviews there several times, and always found the reviews to be pretty accurate. I also like Frommers.com for their "deals" section.
