L.A., A Quick Weekend

Recent business trip to Bakersfield found me alone there for the weekend. So rather than stay in Bakersfield, I drove south to L.A. Hence, travelling alone.

Checked in at the Wyndham Commerce. This is a pretty good hotel, though I was skeptical at check-in. It is located in an old tire factory now called The Citadel.

After early check-in, and cardio on the treadmill, I took a two block drive [you can't really walk it] to the Commerce Casino, see http://www.commercecasino.com/index.htm The card casinos are one of my usual stops when loitering in L.A. on business trips. A few quick hands in $3-6 fixed limit hold'em and I exit with a $27 profit. As in most gambling operations, the food is very inexpensive. A sushi lunch that would normally run me $30, cost less than $10.

Then it is dinner and entertainment at The Magic Castle, see http://www.magiccastle.com/f/ Though not a magician, I am a member of this club, as it serves as an entertainment gratuity for my clients in the SoCal area. The dinner was good, and the shows were excellent.

Driving back to Bakersfiled the next morning I stopped at the Reagan Library & Musuem, see http://www.reaganlibrary.com/welcome.asp The library and museum are very well done.
