Spirit airlines expirience

Worst experience ever. Will never fly on Sporit again. Got charged triple at the gate for carry on even though my ticket allowed for a carry on and a personal item. Zero customer service and appreciation. Extremely uncomfortable seats that are falling apart. Worn out not working seatbelts. All in all a nightmare! Pay a little more and fly a normal airline. What was suppose to be an affordable trip turned into more expensive then if I would have bought normal airline.

Welcome to flyertalk. Nothing new. That's how LCCs often work. I've only flown them once and that was it. I'd only consider it if I were carrying nothing and my destination was close enough that I could drive or take the train as a back up.

The best case your benchmark is domestic first and you take the spirit package with the big front seat and all the options, and the flight runs on time. It’s maybe 200 instead of 400. it all goes downhill from there.

it’s pretty telling anyone with any sense flying spirit will book a backup ticket on another airline, lol.

Did your carryon conform with Spirit's weight and dimensions guidelines?

Anything can be a deal at a low enough price, lol

Sorry for your bad experience, but at least they got you to your destination.

My daughter and her husband arrived at Detroit airport earlier this month and were told their Spirit flight to Phoenix was cancelled. No weather issues. Money refunded but no assistance or rebooking with another airline. Delta had space on three flights to PHX that day but I guess they were either too expensive or maybe Spirit doesn't even have credit terms with Delta. My daughter ended up booking a Frontier flight at a considerable premium but at least that got them to Phoenix (very late) that day.

It's too bad because I flew Spirit a couple of times in the "big front seat" and thought it was great value. I suspect what we're seeing today is an airline in its final weeks or months.
