Another quick hop, this time to Paris

Hi again. (Un)fortunately, once again I have to take a really quick hop to another destination, for mostly shopping purposes. But this time I made a stupid mistake, and ordered something, that due to brand's policy can't be shipped and I have to collect it in Paris. ...., or maybe not, as this is another reason to take a quick trip. Disadvantage - I have to take this trip on business day, and I'm really short with my days off, so no sleeping, just a typical one-day trip. So, I searched for a reasonable priced ticket with the best possible itinerary and purchased it. I also went for the new Lufthansa emissions compensation scheme, which provides additional 80% QP, so this trip will give me a nice 144 QP to help with my status renewal.

The plan is quite simple:
4:20 am brutal wake up, Bolt to Okęcie
Quick breakfast in the Polonez Gold
LH to MUC
Second breakfast in the Senator Lounge - in theory I have about 90 minutes layover with gate change from K to G (at least that's the situation in the app)
LH to CDG
Quick trip to the city center, using public transport, if possible
Collecting my order and quick visit to Lafayette to install yellow wheels in my cabin bag and to purchase (finally) a checked bag
Lunch, if hungry (recommendations welcomed!)
Few steps around the city, if time allows
CDG, once again by public transport, if doable. Also, more time needed to check my bag.
Lunch in LH Lounge (Senator or Business, will see, if time allows)
OS to VIE
Dinner in Senator lounge
OS to WAW.
Whole trip booked in Eco classic, so we will see how it will go.

Good morning from Polonez. It's an early start of the day. Quick less than 15 minutes Bolt ride, and I'm at Okęcie. In the meantime, it looks that there will be some crowd from MUC. At least they try to offer something. A real steal for connecting passengers :D

Quick breakfast, with usual offering in the Polonez Gold

Enough to keep me full till MUC, now it's time to board boring A319.

Hello from Senator Lounge G. The flight was on time and boring, I tried to nap for most of it. row 5, so decent legroom

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9b46da960.jpeg

Flight was really empty for LH standards (maybe 50% load), so my neighbor from C seat found his own row in 6 or 7, so I ended up with row for myself. Nice.

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8adcb111e.jpeg

We arrived at K gates, so it's about 10-12 minutes to reach G.
In the lounge I found those seat, which are quite good for a short stay. Unfortunately, power ports in first one were not working, so I had to move to another.

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c1bbb5845.jpeg

Having a short nap was tempting

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ab002782d.jpeg

But instead I decided to have a breakfast.

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7b393bc86.jpeg

Give me bacon, and I'm a happy kid :D This one was really crispy, almost like a chips from bacon. But tasty. Fresh OJ and some coffee. I still have more that 30 minutes till boarding, so I will eat something more, to leave the lounge quite full.

I had the misfortune to use Munich at the weekend with BA; won’t be going back, a miserable experience. Whatever happened to German efficiency? Nos sign of it at MUC A and B, that’s for sure.

For me, Munich as LH hub is OK, despite the train. But maybe after transiting for more than 10 times, I got used to it.

So, greeting from CDG Gold young (spoiler - really average). The flight to CGD went fine, almost on time.
I got a train to the city (B line), I did not have a card, so the ticket was 15 Euros (13 for the ticket + 2 for the card). Plan was simple - 3 places on mandatory list, and maybe a lunch.

Few nice monuments on the go

First stop was Le Grand Epicure Paris, for some groceries.

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...24fd96e8f.jpeg

Shopping done, refreshment grabbed (no beer this time, unfortunately), it's time to hop further

Even WIFI here is bad, so I have to interrupt this post to board my flight to VIE. Next part will be - hopefully - from the VIE Senator lounge.

Nimrod1965 Oct 22, 2025 9:13 am

I found MUC to be very confusing for a first time passenger arriving by train (maybe it’s just me); long queues for security, almost 30 minutes.

Limits on amount of liquids in hand baggage at security and having to take them out of the bag, shoes off in my line but nowhere else; just no consistency in regulations and most European airports that I have travelled to this year don’t do those things anymore.

Almost 30 minutes to get through passport control.

Shambles at the gate, which was essentially a tunnel attached to a narrow corridor where people were queuing and trying to pass through at the same time.

No effective boarding process; no clear signage of boarding groups and effectively, a free for all at boarding time.

Trying to board the aircraft while ground services were still trying to get assistance passengers off the aircraft from the previous flight.

tanin Oct 22, 2025 12:37 pm

Welcome from VIE Senator lounge. Due to short delay, nad a bus gate on arrival, my time here is shorted than expected. So, just a small update. I will try to finish this TR in the upcoming days.

After grocery shopping, I went to collect my order, which was less than 30 minutes walk. Some nice views.

That's not my first time in Paris (I went here last September for 3 nights), so I skipped entering anywhere. Finally, last destination reached.

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...31be85edd.jpeg

Time to get my suitcase. Also, I'm a little bit hungry, so I will search for an opportunity to eat something.

tanin Oct 24, 2025 1:14 am

So, the visit in the Lafayette was focused on 2 things and both were accomplished.

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0a8602db3.jpeg

Nice, fresh look of my reliable travel companion. And finally got a Trunk.
Oh, I'm a big fan of this setup

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...030463245.jpeg

During my time in the boutique I asked there about some recommendations for a place to have a quick lunch. Lovely lady recommended the Lou Cantou, which is less than 5 minutes from Lafayette.

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...08ef618ec.jpeg
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8572cf205.jpeg

I went for a 3-course lunch, which was a small mistake, due to amount of food.

Onion soup and Cider to start.

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...866cccfb1.jpeg
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...49f298d6d.jpeg

Beef tartare as main, and French IPA to go with it

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...96121fc66.jpeg
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...74f07c7b8.jpeg

Tartare could be more salty, but still it was very good. Fries went very well with the Dijon mustard. Cheeses to conclude the meal

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...97d188000.jpeg

Very nice meal. And I was really full. For sure, can recommend this place. Bill with tip was 60 Euros.

Nów, it's time to head back to CDG. I decided to walk for about 25 minutes to Gare du Nord, to catch the B train.

tanin Oct 25, 2025 1:58 am

Gare du Nord is a really big station, but there are plenty of signs, so it's not that hard to find the B line.

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e7396aae9.jpeg

Also, a few nice building on my way there

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...707a0f91e.jpeg
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...17db964d4.jpeg
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f1c9411ae.jpeg

My train was a speedy version of the B line, so I reached CDG in about 30 minutes, ride was 13 Euros, as I used my card purchased in the morning. After that, I had to go to the CDGVal, to transfer to T1, it takes about 10 minutes. T1 is the worst terminal for me, but I was able to find the check-in quite fast. There was some line, as only staffed desk is reserved for premium passengers. For Economy you have the self drop station.

There is a long walk to the LH section of the airport, and security is at the end. Please keep in mind, that in this section there is only one small shop, so if you plan to buy something, that's not the best place to do so.

Lounge is 1 level below, with 2 sections - Business and Gold. In the business I was about a year ago, this time I headed to the Gold one. It was crowded, despite an hour before first flight of the evening part of LH group departures.

Food and drink selection is OK, but no bells and whistles. Toilets are slightly outside, no showers.

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ef73c028b.jpeg
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4797146a9.jpeg

I was full after the lunch, so the only thing that I ate was the sample of the Financier Chicken, just to taste it. OK dish. I also sampled some cremant and red wine .

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0f43fcaa2.jpeg
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b6af8f50f.jpeg

There were 2 tap beers - one German and one French, but the tap system was full of CO2 with no regulation options, so you got mostly a foam, which after some time transferred into a half of glass of beer. Tried the French one, and it was OK.

WIFI was really slow, really. I tried to post an update of this trip, but uploading photos took ages.

Overall - really mediocre experience in this quite important airport. Seen better lounges for sure. OK, time to board OS flight to Vienna.

Honestly, for me, the whole CDG experience is overall really bad and far from welcoming. Small check-in area, with staffed section only for premium and status passengers. Really long walk, and security at the end, just before entering the gate area. Separate part of the terminal is good idea in theory, but in reality, it a crowded rat hole, with only one basic shop, and lines gets crazy when boarding is about to start. No real restaurant etc., so without lounge access there is nothing to do there. The lounge is also really average, nothing to be excited about, which I can't understand in such an important city, with a lot of travelers and premium market. Nobody really cares about the experience.

Yes, but the strap I got in March in Lisbon when it was launched ;) Nice memorabilia from my 6-weeks job-related stay there ;) This time I also went for the four-leaf clover ;)
