You might notice that there is no curtain after the 7 rows of business class. This is one of the newer Neo’s with the XL bins and I’ve yet to see one with a curtain. |
Good ‘morning’ from Lisbon where I am currently awaiting my booked transfer. Just checking the lounge situation in Lisbon airport and the Ana lounge does not open until 6 am. BAH!
Over to Priority Pass which also offers the ANA lounge and a business lounge that is closed all day First world problems :) |
Is it too early for donuts?
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d135392c4.jpeg Nope :D https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fe46b4cd1.jpeg |
Not knowing what passport control was like I decided to head for the gate and forego the lounge. I reached passport control at 05:59 and it was not pretty. The UK egates were all closed and all passports was busy
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...de66e47fa.jpeg As I was taking the photo 6am arrived and all the UK gates started going green! A quick about face and I was through in a minute. I asked the border guard about opening times and 6am is the usual so I timed it perfectly. Better to be lucky than good :D Our gate today is N47 at the far reach of the terminal and it’s about a ten minute walk from passport control https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b34e1b3a5.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...183cdc546.jpeg Never seen a group 1 only sign before. Now I wonder if they can manage group 0? https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...564f0484b.jpeg |
We’ll, they almost managed it, a group 1 call, then a group 0 and 1 call, then just group 0… got there in the end :D
And boarding-not boarding https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b67b43ea1.jpeg |
We eventually started boarding after a ten minute wait in the very chilly anteroom and it is slow going, people still streaming on board twenty minutes later.
G-TTNM today which I was last onboard almost a year ago on the way to Istanbul https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7ba5d8f1b.jpeg It’s a completely full plane this morning and so myself and the lovely lady in 12A have been praying for someone petite in 12B and the power of positive thoughts has won through. No poor man’s CE today but relative comfort for todays three hour jaunt to London |
Boarding complete at 07:07 for this scheduled 07:05 departure.
The first officers announcement that we are slightly behind schedule today and with a flinging time of 2:40 they hope to be in London on time. I was having a quick chat with one of the crew at the back whilst I was taking the snap of the data plate, apparently they had a mechanical issue in the hold and the engineers were out looking at it, which is why we had a bit of a wait before being let on the plane Buckled up, ready to go, and ready for a bacon roll once the BoB run starts :D Next Stop: London Heathrow on under three hours time |
We eventually started to push back at 07:15 and then after a ten minute trundle around the airport, we. Waited, and waited, aaaannnnnd…. Off the ground at 07:38
I went down to the back of the plane to use the facilities and the crew were prepping the trolley for the snack run, oat biscuits this morning. This was greatly disappointing as I was hoping for a chocolate biscuit :) As I came out of the toilet and started to head to my seat one of the crew, completely unprompted, handed me a packet of digestives! That was some seriously spooky mind reading going on! She also asked if I’d like a cup of coffee… I wonder if she is single? :D :D https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f0416b243.jpeg The BoB trolley run came past at around quarter past eight and a bacon roll and coffee will keep the wolf from the door until we get to heathrow. After the outbound disappointment a full English in the Concorde Room is definitely on the cards. Another pack of chocolate biscuits also miraculously appeared :) https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ed6414fd0.jpeg The captain made his announcement at around ten past nine that we had forty minutes to go, and he hoped to be at the gate for ten o’clock and, that at the moment we had gate A12. I was chatting in the galley at the time and we were a little sceptical of his optimism, we’ll see. The remainder of the flight was spent reading my iPad and enjoying the slightly bumpy ride for the final hour. A really great crew at the back of the bus and another golden ticket to be raised on landing. Oh, and a whinge that there was no wifi, it wouldn’t even connect, so the score is 1-1 so far this week :D On the ground at 09:55 and now taking the grand Heathrow tour to the gate. |
Reasonably quick and easy through passport control and landside, then back in via the first wing.
First stop was customer service where I’ve been able to do a free change on the day from the 6pm to the 3pm flight. No exit row though, so I kept the same 10c seat and it’ll be a bit squidgy. I might go ask the price of a CE upgrade, maybe. Also booked a cabana at the same time so I can get a little snooze around noon if needs be And now finally into the CCR and onto the gallery for breakfast https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7cbe3a5bc.jpeg Standard trio, and the coffee is late to the party once again https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...35ec312cb.jpeg I’ve ordered a bit of a mash-up of breakfast so it might take a while and it’ll be interesting to see if they get it right. |
It may have arrived on three plates, but the end result was delicious
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c2a839542.jpeg |
Having enjoyed that hearty breakfast it was time to head into Cabana 2 for 40 winks
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b74861a73.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b1f72f0a1.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2fcd043b8.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d4a3f4781.jpeg I’ve said it before, that day bed is not comfortable but if you’re tired enough then even at my size you can fold yourself up on it for a nap, and an hour later I feel much refreshed and ready to see the rest of the trip out. Out to the bar for a coffee and I thought I’d give the rose a try, it’s not bad, but in future I’ll stick to the Pommery :) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5fb58269c.jpeg |
Checking on expert flyer I saw that seat 1C is free on the 3pm flight so, I asked for the upgrade price. £79 worked for me given this has been a super cheap trip, and deciding that I’m worth it, I’ve taken the upgrade. I’ll just have to recoup the money by having another glass of Champers… Lounge Logic in action :D

Gate 6 again today so I’ve headed down nice and early and for once it’s looking pretty clear, but they’ve not started loading the tensa yet.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2cbc19c5d.jpeg Walked down the side to do the standard ‘are you preboarding group 0’ and was slightly surprised to be let through and checked in. No complaints today! They’ve just announced that groups 5-9 will be required to give up bags and it’s now a bit of a flurry. The crew have only now gone down to the plane so we have a while to wait. They’ve also just called group 1 and now gate 6 looks much more like the shambles I have come to expect :D Update: first time I’ve noticed this lurking behind the escalator https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b7c44a862.jpeg |
