I’ve woken up to a message from BA that they want to speak to me re: the cancelled booking so that may not ‘take’. If that does turn out to be the case I’m not too worried at the loss of a few Avios.

Another great TR, but I might’ve missed the part where you closed the loop on this Avios issue. What wound up happening with BA when you spoke with them? Inquiring minds want to know!

It’s still outstanding. I couldn’t get through on the phone, although admittedly I didn’t try that hard, so I forwarded the mail to the priority team. The last response was ‘I can see in the booking that a member of the Refunds team tried to contact you to confirm that you wanted to cancel the booking as per the fare rules as there was an error online. As you stated that you were happy to go ahead in the previous email, I will send this back down to them to confirm that you are happy to continue with cancelling the booking’

I’ll post an update when I hear more

Only recently discovered your trip reports but have enjoyed them all; looking forward to reading next year’s adventures.

Happy New Year.

Thanks for all the reports, it makes up for my lack of flying, especially lack of BA flights!

Is it just me or I'd expect a lot more cheese on a Ploughman's?

JapesUK - how greatly do the BA program changes affect your strategy?

Thats the last trip report for 2024 in the bag. I’ll be slowing my roll somewhat for 2025 but there will be more long haul and tier point runs rather than short haul, although I’m sure boredom will set in along the way and last minute diversions organised!

Happy new year to one and all!

Oh no! Whatever will I do with my time? :D

And a happy new year to you from this mornings Warsaw, champers and juice, the coffee followed shortly as a to-go.

Maybe it's Japesified? Mine last year certainly had more cheese, otherwise not as nice though.

It is a complete rethink of the second half of 2025 and 2026. Existing bookings get me GGL for 25-26 and gold for 26-27 with no need of a soft landing. I said earlier in the report that I was planning on less trips, further, for longer. That plan is now shredded.

Plan B is to empty my pretty substantial Avios hoard with short haul Y trips from T5 to places I have yet to visit, and 2026 similar from a mix of T3 and T5, maximising the status benefits for the next 2 years and directing as little as possible directly into BAs coffers :D

Assuming nothing has changed in the ensuing 2 years then *A and LH makes the most sense for me with a whole new network to explore, but that’s a way off in the distance.

There are people who say change is good. I'm not sure I subscribe to that.

But it is inevitable. My personal take on this whole farrago is that I’m glad I got into the game early enough to enjoy a couple of innings and I shall make the most of my remaining time in the program. 6 additional 2025 trips booked so far, calendar full to August, still plenty of avios to burn :)
