Front Street Hamilton
After breakfast, we set out to explore the island. After an expensive taxi ride, we stood on Front Street in Hamilton. It is often referred to as a luxury shopping street, but I won't comment on that now. In my opinion, there are not many attractive boutiques. But there are pretty colorful houses. The “famous” traffic island was not occupied by a policeman in Bermuda shorts.

A few meters from Front Street at the harbor is Point Pleasure Park with the HMS Jervis Bay Memorial.

Queen Elizabeth Par-La-Ville Sculpture Park Hamilton
A little inland, the Queen Elizabeth Par-La-Ville Sculpture Park is located. It is a very nice small park with sculptures. You do not pay an entrance fee.

That hotel seems to be riding the Rosewood brand coattails and is a major ripoff -- that's not even close to luxury, not 4 stars. Maybe 3. I would have been pi$$ed off.

Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity Hamilton
The Anglican cathedral was built between 1886 and 1905. The stone was brought from France. The church is very reminiscent of British churches.

Cathedral of Saint Theresa of Lisieux
A few meters further on is the Roman Catholic Cathedral. With fewer than 10,000 members, the Diocese of Bermuda is not exactly large and is probably one of the smaller dioceses.

Suffice to say that I think there is an overwhelmingly large range of options where $2000 can be burnt with higher margins of return.:D

Ferry
I really need to continue this trip report. Unfortunately, my formatting menu for posts has still disappeared (does anyone have a clue what could have caused this), so uploading photos is a pain. That's why my motivation is a bit limited at the moment.
We saw the ferry to the Royal Dockyards in Hamilton. The price was very reasonable at $8 for 2 people one way, so we decided to take the trip. The ferry ride is a good way to see a bit of the water and also a quick way to get around. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c58b8721b.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...212e2c15a.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2f60c8d8b.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7722f5a62.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...850666904.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...96bec6eec.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...62423f699.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fa7e9e045.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...02cb613d5.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7d18bce1e.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6c1fe1047.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5abc96682.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b92c73b2f.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...24bdb8f68.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5b7a43144.jpeg |
Royal Naval Dockyard
The Royal Naval Dockyard is a port of call for cruise ships. During our visit, one such monster was in port. Otherwise, there are various more or less interesting sights. First, there is the Clocktower Mall, a former warehouse.

National Museum of Bermuda
Next stop was the National Museum of Bermuda, formerly the Bermuda Maritime Museum, which is housed in the old fort.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a5ef0a27f.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6eab2d51c.jpeg After entering, you immediately have a view of the Commissioner's House, but more about that later. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...cebc95dcd.jpeg First, we go to the Queen's Exhibition Hall, where there is an exhibition about shipwrecks. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...294255b96.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b585a6e87.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5a38932c3.jpeg Next to it is the Dolphin Quest, where you can interact with dolphins. It's not a cheap pleasure, so 30 minutes with dolphins and a total of 45 minutes for up to 4 guests costs $1450. If you get on the animals' nerves for over an hour and book the 4-hour training program, it costs €850 per person. If you don't go into the water and 5 minutes with the dolphins is enough for you, it's only €65. The dolphins' pool is really pathetic. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c711a8986.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...dbf20f8fc.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...27995c3c9.jpeg This sign points out that the dolphins have a much larger outdoor enclosure. Well at least... https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fb7fa78be.jpeg |
National Museum of Bermuda
No, the tunnels were not explored in detail.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a195459c0.jpeg Instead, there was a visit to the fortifications, with a monument and a view of the Commissioner's House and the sea. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...28cd92b80.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2b8621531.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ca5e6316c.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...14bd8f421.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c63cff1d1.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c8ee269b8.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...702bc593a.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7974ebeef.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...314bfbd38.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a62dd33b5.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...aee599e0c.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a9220dbcc.jpeg |
