Having called all four groups they then left us standing in the access corridor for over ten minutes, the outgoing crew hadn’t even deplaned yet.

Seat 1C for these last two flight so currently taking my standard perch on 1B, and even then been battered by someone’s rucksack.

G-EUYH today which I think is the plane I have been on the most, generally NCL-LHR or back

Listening to the conversation at the door it looks like we are missing three passengers. We are fifteen minutes to departure so that’s pretty impressive… so long as the missing three appear soon!

Update: despatcher just followed two more on board and the last one is SOL, doors are closed and we’re ready to go

That was probably the worst, most disorganised crew I have ever seen. It was an afternoon tea service for 5 rows so maybe 17 or 18 people. They just managed to clear the cabin before landing. I got a top up as I asked for it as they returned with the trolley, nobody else had a chance. At one point there were five of the six crew milling around in the forward galley. One crew member didn’t know where to find the biscuits, another one didn’t know where the nuts were kept. The lass doing the drinks run was distracted twice by the gent in 1D and so only did half the order for me and the lady in 1F before remembering she was half way through…. Just a complete shambles. They made it in the end but they made it look incredibly difficult.

No greeting by name at all for anyone, cockpit door opened whist the galley curtain was still open… just really all over the place

In other news, I was so surprised to have not ordered a special meal that I forgot to take a photograph! It was the standard non-vegetarian sandwiches and a scone. I did remember to photo the drinks

An on time landing and now another three plus hours on the lounge!

I decided to go out airside and come back in via the first wing because my rucksack was crammed with liquids, creams sweets etc and I was curious to see if the scanner could cope with it. And the answer was, not a chance! Completely expected that it was pulled but surprised that it was the two power banks that triggered the secondary rather than the baklava, or all the bits from the amenity kits.

Even with secondary it was quick and easy and the guys in the first wing security are always open for a bit of a chat whilst you faff around.

Into the first lounge and the beef madras is still on offer although they’ve toned the chilli down, too many complaints? Still a nice plate of food but I liked the original fiery offering

Now sat watching airfield operations whilst enjoying a couple of 0.0 alcohol… with 3 hours to go I need to pace myself!

It’s now 17 hours since I got up and the danger of an extended snooze is very real so it’s time to set a couple of alarms and then I think I’ll simply chill out reading a bit more of my book for a while.

Leaving the lounge early because once again the heat was making me sleepy, I took a small detour to duty free to see what the promotions were, still to toblerone and makers mark.

Down to the gate to watch the complete mess they were making of the boarding. Many announcements that groups 4-7 would be forced to check bags then immediately followed by announcements that anyone that volunteered to check a bag could pre-board!

Having made a right mess of that, general boarding started with a call for groups 0 & 1. I expected that this group 0 rollout would not be implemented properly across the network but you’d think they’d get it right in ‘the home of BA’

Now on board and they’re still messing around with bags, the entire aisle is jammed with passengers and now they’re asking people to step out of the aisle, that’s a new one!

20 1/2 hours down, less than two to go!

Everyone on board and just listening to the dispatcher and crew discussing an additional security check and a young lady has just been escorted from the plane.

G-EUPP tonight, a 23 year old A319 and the first time on board for me

Seems to be a lot of discussions ongoing, will we be on a Newcastle flight that leaves on time for once? I suspect that the odds are not in our favour.

Menus distributed, no special again so it’ll be the salmon for me

Dispatcher still on board, doors still open, and the young lady that was offloaded has just returned, it seems she got on board with no biometrics!

Good crew this evening, handled the seven rows of business between the two of them and managed to offer a top up round on the way back. All the departure delay was made up in the air and we landed a few minutes ahead of schedule.

As mentioned before, I chose the smoked salmon and a glass of fizz.

And this is the first time ever I’ve seen this on a Newcastle flight

And all that’s left to do now is jump in and Uber and head home, and then straight to bed!

Hope you enjoyed the trip report, it will be the last for some time as all the flying in the next months is just boring day trips or simple overnights

Did you get the huge bottle of Azerbaijani moisturizer in the amenity packs? No idea what to do with that but it's just epic so I can't dispose of it.

You can transit airside at CDG, on the buses, but you end up in the non-Schengen section which has no facilities. To get to the lounge you have to go landside, but the system still thinks you're airside so I had difficulty getting back. Also the security Fast Track was diabolically slow so it took ages to get to the lounge. I had the same timings as you and I was really kicking off, especially since the lounge food was so dreadful.

Got four of them

Yes, definitely not a choice for transit on BA or overnighting if avoidable.

J2 is a really solid airline, so much better than carriers on the route like LOT and LH. A very good selection of food, service and cabin. The lounge is also better than what's used by other airlines mentioned as well as QR. There's no baklava there...

What kind of drinks did they have onboard, did you notice the brand of gin?

From the hotels you've stayed at, if you ever go back I'd recommend the Hilton, it seems better.

When I read your TR's I just can't get over how awful the Galleries First lounge food is. It's absolutely dreadful. I totally understand how you'd want to get the TPs to escape that. It wasn't always so bad.

Thankfully BArb's plonk is champagne, and not "fizz" so careful with that moniker, it covers many sins!

I have absolutely no idea! On both flights nothing alcoholic is offered proactively and there is no alcohol listed on the menu, nor do they have a drinks menu. It seems to be a ‘if you know, you know’ scenario. I did get a peep into the bar cart and I didn’t see any miniatures, everything I could see was full or half bottles, including white spirits and wine.

It really is poor when I compare it with the likes of AF at CDG or KLM at AMS, it wouldn’t be so bad if they could vary it but its pretty much the same every time, thats why I was pleased to see the punchy madras and now that seems to have been tamed. I guess if you’re plying only to the lowest denominator it’s going to end up bland

Also what I didnt mention earlier, no cognac in the lounge again. Hopefully that means out of stock, not replaced with yet another gin.

Brilliant trip report once again. Ginger Tom and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, until we got to the bit about no more reports for a while

Much dullness ahead, reporting-wise. KLM economy, london day trips, preveza in and out… even Marrakesh is a fully inclusive snooze

Food is the same as Club. Terrible.

Cognac might be an issue because AFAIK Diageo don't own a single one so I assume BArb will reluctantly need to pay real money for it

Blimey, at least for a few days I’m out japing Japes🤭 10 nights in the Caribbean as of Friday, and no there will be no trip report, although if I remember I may post food pictures in the Club World thread as I believe BA have promised an Easter delight for us!
