Had a lovely trip to China last fall (returned in mid October). Shanghai, Yichang, Yangtze River cruise and then Chongqing. The Hilton Hotels were fabulous. Treated us like Royalty. Subway systems excellent. Walking around was both safe and entertaining. Luckily we left just before the Covid struck Wuhan.
Flew CX SEA-HKG-PVG. Then Hainan Chongqing, Shenzen, YVR. Both flights were so much better than Delta 1 from your description.
Also have a 10 year visa but have traveled to China many times before the 10 year was available. Hope to return one day after all the virus problems are identified and cleaned up.
