Many here will say not a good decision but I think it´s (at least you book something nicer) the right decision.

Tarquina: Monterozzi necropolis

Monterozzi necropolis is part of UNESCO world heritage and is a collection of painted underground grave chambers.

For nearly all tombs you have to climb down stairs.

The different chambers are richly decorated in various conservation states.

Very nice place and well worth a visit.

Dinner: Malibu Hosteria del Pesce Democratico

For our forth evening in Ladispoli we wanted to try something new. From our hotel we got a recommondation for Malibu Beach Club.
The restaurant is a rustic building at the beach.

Due to the time of the year it was relative empty. I liked the logo.

They don´t have an English menu but they explained their dishes for us. They also explained that they only use local fish from sustainable fishing. We started with a selection of starters.

Next Spagetthi with mussles.

Desserts

We enjoyed our meal as it was tasty and as we paid 80 € for us 2 I found it also good value.

Bologna: Grand Hotel Majestic giŕ Baglioni

The next morning we drove to Bologna for our next hotel. We booked the Majestic which is part of the Leading Hotels of the World and the only 5 star hotel in Bologna. Prices are pretty high, especially for suites. Our One Bedroom Suite was 1300,00 € per night.
Reaching the hotel is a pain in the .... Bologna is a limited traffic zone and you are only allowed to drive one way. If you took another street you must pay a fine…… As no navigation system knows the correct way it´s useless.
The hotel itself is not easy to find, from the street it looks not really like a hotel.

The lobby is classic with a lot of marble.

On the different floors are seating groups and artworks

Pictures of famous guests

Piano

Parts of an ancient street.

Bologna: Grand Hotel Majestic giŕ Baglioni

Our One Bedroom Suite 241 was located on the second floor.

When we entered we thought: "Welcome to grandmothers dream!"
The suite was furnished with antiques but feeled more dated than luxurious.

The suite had not really much of a view:

The bathroom was OK, but a little bit old fashioned.

Worst thing was the toilet. The picture is not 100% accurate as it not shows some brown deposits. But I guess you can see that it was everything else than clean. Disgusting!

Bologna: Grand Hotel Majestic giŕ Baglioni

Breakfast was served in a cellar room with very few windows. While the choices were OK, quality wasn´t. Lowest point were the scrambled eggs. The cakes were good. You could order more items for an extra charge.

A breakfast to forget.

Bologna: Basilica San Petronio

San Petronio is the main church of Bologna and much bigger than the cathedral. The facade is unfinished.

Inside it´s especially worth seeing because of its size and the Meridian Line.

Great report and awesome pictures.
Not sure how you could eat that much gelato. I was getting a stomach ache just looking at them.

Bologna: Due Torri

Once Bologna had many Towers, some think it were 180. The only 2 remaining are Garisenda and Asinelli in the centre of Bologna. Both towers are crooked. From time to time you can also go inside and climb them, but we didn´t.
