Cathay Dragon A330 - Penang to Hong Kong - Business Class \ TRIP REPORT
Cathay Dragon A330 - Penang to Hong Kong - Business Class
Intro
This trip report covers a flight between Penang to Hong Kong on Cathay Dragon, in the business class cabin, while I was in the city a few weeks back.
I had a connecting flight from HKG-YYZ to catch as well after, and I'll cover that segment in another trip report.
Background
Travelled from Toronto to Penang for a business trip - going from -20C the day of departure to +33C, and this is part of the journey back to -20C temperatures in Canada!

Penang
Visited Penang Hill after work, beautiful view of the city.
Bonus warm tropical weather - as I'm coming from the deep freeze of a Canadian winter.
A hike around the top of the hill
Another view of the city
A shot from the trail
Had a 'mango tango' drink, made from fresh mangos, blended. Great dessert!
Getting dark on the hill, the view gets more impressive!
Room service - Penang noodles from the hotel. Amazingly delicious, and cheap ($6USD for room service!).
A local favourite, Chendul.
The Flight
After checking in my bags, there was a first + business class Cathay Pacific lounge after security, for my Cathay Dragon Flight.
A small selection of drinks, and snacks available.
Had a few items, and a coffee.
The aircraft for today!
Was still feeling hungry, as I didn't find the lounge food particularly good, got a cookie!
Business class seating - no lie flat, but good recline.
Guava alcoholic beverage - welcome drink! Delicious.
Seats are arranged 2x2x2
View of the other aircraft with us that day.
View of one of the two bridges that connects Penang with the mainland of Malysia. Penang is an island.
Drinks - had a glass of water and mixed nuts.
Lunch menu offering
Appetizer - tandoori chicken and salad. Chicken was cold and dry, disappointing
Wine menu, did not have any today.
Shrimp main dish, was pretty good.
Can't go wrong with Haagen Daaz though, it was delicious.
Approaching Hong Kong for landing.
Approaching Hong Kong for landing.
Roaming the terminal, spotted an A380, waiting for my connecting flight to YYZ.
Overall
Great flight, service was good, food was mediocre. A bit disappointing on the food in flight and in the lounge in Penang.
Could not really tell the difference in terms of aircraft, or service, between Cathay Dragon and Cathay Pacific - may as well just merge the two together?
Definitely would love to visit Malaysia again - it was a great city.
