Beautiful! How did the rest of the authentic Bhutan cuisine go - was it all very spicy? I thought that water wasn't good to drink during a spicy meal, but best to have after the meal. I love how every cuisine around the world has some type of spicy element. I haven't found Bhutan food in SF but there's Nepalese a mile from home and I only ate there 14 or so years ago! Eek.

Thank you, gaobest:). The Bhutanese food was pretty spicy, they are certainly not afraid of using plenty of chili's:D!

You are welcome!

Also I think this is the first trip report you didn't leave Dubai at 3 AM :D

How does Mrs.DW allow you to go on these short vacation benders? Does she not get jealous? :D

Rianda doesn't get quite as much vacation time as me, although she still gets jealous of all my trips:D.

Interesting Trip Report. Thanks

What travel agency did you deal with? I read you must spend a minimum amount per day to obtain a Visa and that a trip is expensive? Maybe I missed it but how many days did you stay?

Great report. I've always wanted to go there.:p

Another amazing trip report. 2 questions: how long was the hike to the monastery up the hill? and would the police allowed you to photograph the royal family after their visit to the temple?

It took about 90 minutes up and 40 back down... 2000' elevation gain (8000' -> 10000')

Thank you, tjcnkc:). Yes, a very interesting and unique place. Quite different to neighbouring Nepal and India.

I was there for three nights/days. Yes, minimum of ~$250 per person per day. This is the tour company: I used Raven Bhutan Just another WordPress site

Really enjoyed this TR, great balance between photos, history and commentary as always. Bhutan is definitely somewhere I'd like to visit one day.

Many thanks, Spymon:). Yes, the country has quite an interesting history, especially in the last century or so.
