Great report especially I am going to fly the same route from LHR to JFK in BA first in May.
Thanks for all the great pictures and I really miss New York. I wish I could be part of that protest and seeing those pictures really brought back some memories. Thanks for sharing again! Carfield |

So, our last morning in New York! :( I woke up a little bit worse for wear but managed to pull myself together and head out for a wander. We walked down to the UN Plaza - waste of time as nothing was going on and we saw nothing. We then looked at a few shops and wandered down to the Flat Iron Building and then back to 230 5th for a last drink.

I had called in love with New York. We got checked in and headed to the CCR for a spot of chill time before dinner. Stud 2 went to shower while I chilled with a cocktail and some music. We then headed through to the restaurant and had some dinner before we boarded. We had sight go two kids - one who was going absolutely mental. I hoped to sweet Jesus that they wouldn't be on our flight. They were but the parents must have given him some whisky or something as he fell asleep pretty much after take off! https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4609/...6b7a172d_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4663/...70a507b4_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4694/...b66cd091_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4694/...f126284d_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4669/...8c799e56_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4658/...a96a1ef0_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4755/...095ba7eb_c.jpg BA182 , JFK - LHR, G-YMMG, B772 The crew on board this flight were just amazing. One of the ladies just went out of her way to chat, ask about my time in New York and was probably one of the best members of BA staff I have had the pleasure of coming across before. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4650/...c518a883_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4619/...4a1c7f7b_c.jpg A few glasses of fizz later and we were on our way to London. Flight time of 5 hours 40 mins. Blurry menu but I decided to grab some soup and the chicken pie before I headed to bed. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4759/...31a428cd_c.jpg But not before having a wee G&T! https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4631/...ed7d0e02_c.jpg Soup was absolutely amazing! https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4749/...f916c01a_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4699/...00672532_c.jpg Whisky before a great sleep! https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4602/...37d32db7_c.jpg I woke up about 50 mins outside of London and one of the crew was at my seat in a minute taking my order for breakfast. I loved having breakfast while still cosy under the duvet. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4660/...7c02080a_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4756/...62d4578a_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4665/...82f9faa7_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4604/...2074c394_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4755/...10cb51dd_c.jpg And before long, we came in over London with a decent view of central London. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4652/...21f3e485_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4755/...44222c5c_c.jpg Ugh, bus gate! https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4674/...937ff8a3_c.jpg BA are trialling a new thing for F passengers from JFK where some guy comes and takes off the bags of F class passengers. I'm not sure how useful it is given that you should be first off the plane. The only benefit is that someone else hauls your bag off the carousel...... is that really that great!? https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4755/...ec4b2c8e_c.jpg Said bye to Stud 2 and headed up to the CCR where I had booked a cabana. Took a nap for an hour, had a shower and then headed into the lounge for a few drinks and a late lunch before heading back to Aberdeen. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4649/...98d77e66_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4631/...5baf0b67_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4629/...05c6b904_c.jpg So all in all, this was a great weekend away. I was blown away with New York - it was more than I could have ever imagined. I am already thinking about when I can fit in a trip back there! Thanks for following along with this report..... you can follow my other travels (which don't come with a TR) on Instagram! |
Thanks for a great TR from you. I can't wait to get to NYC in the summer - you've definitely whetted my appetite! :D

Come on, thatīs really a shame! BA is doing many Things to make people fly other airlines.

Thanks for the report - I enjoyed following along!
I think the bags at LHR might also be useful for non-UK/EU passengers, who might take longer to get to the carousel, and can just head to one place and grab their bags. I know that MH do this for arrivals at LHR, and AA also does it for J class arrivals at PAP of all places. |

The view is good - there's like a double set of windows though so there's reflection at night time in the glass. You will get a decent view during the day!

I agree, though given that I normally ignore the Flight Connections nonsense and land then take the lift up to the First Wing, I suppose the only annoyance is waiting for the bag before handing it over when you get upstairs. Great report again.

Oh, I was transferring too. But you can 't through check bags on BA if you are on two separate tickets..... even if both tickets are BA flights. Yah, real premium feel that is for your first class passengers, BA! NOT!

Thanks stu1985 such a great TR as usual. You are the best and glad you loved New York. I love it too but don’t think I can fit a trip in this year so will have to wait until 2019.
I look forward to your next TR. |
NYC is always a great place to visit - and always something unique happening.
