♫This Is The Dawning Of The Plane Of Asparagus ♫ (VX F)
I hadn't flown VX F longhaul this year, and while, overall, the food and service were very good, almost every item on the menu had one vile green particular, and when I was reading the menu, a not very refined version of the following song broke out in my head (not that this final version is much more refined).
If you need to get the tune in the head for this fine report about my JFK/SFO VX F trip of yesterday, here you go. (Of course, the text you see is my "radio edit." I didn't have the energy for the extended version
)

That I just don't like to eat
This is the dawning of the Plane of Asparagus, the Plane of Asparagus,
Asparagusssss, Aspararrragus,
Appetizer, asparagus, pasta had asparagus, entrée salad also had green sticks
Asparagusssss, Aspararrragus,
When the dessert presented on my tray
A chocolate tart with mint ganache
To my surprise there were no
Green sticks that make me barf

I love Asparagos!

The War in the Air, by H G Wells, 1908. Chokes are artichokes.
"Slavey came in while I was eating it, and caught me picking it up with my fingers. Next morning she says to my missis, so missis told me, “’Ow does master eat ’is sparrowgrass when ’e’s out with company, mum?” says she."
Lord Raingo, by Arnold Bennett, 1926. A slavey was a hard-worked live-in maidservant.

I don't know about the rest of you but, after I eat asparagus (which I love!), and then pee, it makes me want to vomit. Worse if I have to get up in the middle of the night to go. Why, asparagus, why?
