A Night at the Sheraton-JFK

A lot of people have asked about their experiecnes at the Sheraton-JFK Airport, and my stay from June 28th to 29th is going to be highlighted...
We arrive at Terminal 3 off of Aeroflot flight 315 from Moscow. We wait for someone who didn't pick it up, an operator interpreted a wrong number twice as a prank call and yelled profanities at me the second time she picked up. Soon enough, we say bye to my grandma, dad and brother who are hitching a ride up to Vermont, and eventually my mom makes me take a cab, first I tried to find the shuttle, but then I realized I had to call the shuttle, but my mom lost her patience... Our taxi driver circles around, parks at a shady looking Skyway Inn, I hoped that was not the Sheraton, and it wasn't we continued and after $12.00 of spinning we arrived at the Sheraton.
We walk through the automatic door and proceed to Registration, with no line we are met by an agent who calls me "smart". I inquired about buying a suite upgrade, but she said they were full. I think she called me smart.. She needed someone from security, so we had to wait for someone from security to come over.. because their lock system wasn't working. Soon enough, someone comes by, a lady, who probably wasn't security, and escorted us over to our room..she was really friendly, and chatted about our flight, got us in our room, adjusted the thermostat and closed the door...we didn't have a Sheraton key for my memory.. I'm not sure if the agent mentioned the Sheraton Service Promise..
We relaxed with my mom and soon enough, took a look at the menu/room service..Prices don't seem bad, so we order the fetuccine alfredo.. soon enough, about 20 minutes later, after watching some TV, a knock on the door and "room service" in an accent are heard. Soon enough, a cheery man delivers the room service, and some water, (possibly 2 cups, don't remember) and we have dinner, very OK.. We might have had mousse for desert, I dont' remember. We hand the man our breakfast order and We go to sleep on a decent bed, room was decent size. I woke up and all I saw was a bunch of cars (highway view) and the Holiday Inn Express and new Best Western across the street, I want to try the new BW some time.. I think it's new. I woke up at 5 woke my mom up and watched some really funny 80s movie about a criminal who breaks into a hospital, tried to get in touch with verizon to get my cell phone going again.. I then went to get some coffee to go with my mom for $1.35 and we talked about how this hotel was OK, and next time my mom wants the Radisson.. and breakfast came, my continental breakfast consisted of 2 mediocre buns and good orange juice with a plastic cover.. We finished that up and prepared to leave---watch out for my Trip Report about SU SVO-JFK in Business and B6 JFK-BTV in First (jetBlue Coach)

Thanks for the report. I am planning to stay at the hotel on my way from Moscow as well (late KLM flight into JFK), so it was helpful. Thanks, and look forward to your SU report!

Just stayed there last week before getting on the Concorde. Hotel had made a 100% improvement over my last stay. Was UGed to a suite which was very nice. Staff were also friendly during my 7.5 hr stay. My 7 year old even asked if we could stay there again http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

The taxi driver must not have been too happy to get a request to go to the Sheraton. They wait a long time to get a ride and want higher fare trips. However they cannot turn you down.

A few years ago my AA flight to London was delayed 10 hours. They gave me a free voucher day-room at the Ramada. I waited over 1 hour for the shuttle and called twice to ask where the shuttle bus was.

Finally I was so frustrated, I gave - up.

We spun around till it was like $15 but I think it was the driver's mistake....but who knows?

Bretteee Jul 27, 2003 7:03 pm

I think he spun around on purpose. These guys have to wait a long time for a ride and they want to take folks to Manhattan for $35 + toll.

Your probably right, but he did a good job and seeming like it wasn't on purpose.. And he even stopped at a hotel and "asked"
I think I have his taxi number somewhere.

Good report!
Punki and I stayed there the night of 7/17 after flying in from SEA-SFO-JFK prior to our flight on the Concorde the next morning. The wait for the shuttle wasn't too long and when we checked in, we received an upgrade to a suite + a dinner voucher for the bar since the club had closed. This is the first time that we've received anything like that.
The suite was roomy, but starting to show it's age.
The next morning we had vouchers for a continental breakfast in the restaurant and caught the shuttle to JFK and the Concorde Lounge.
If I had know that we could have had a full breakfast in the Concorde Lounge, I would have skipped the breakfast at the hotel.

On our return flight back on 7/21 via British First, we waited for like an hour for the shuttle.

When we checked back into the hotel, there were no upgrades available. Our room was one of the smallest that we've had in a long time and was really showing alot of wear and tear. Since there was no space in the room to do our daily workout, the attendant at the desk, Maiisha, who was really helpful, let us use one of the meeting rooms the next morning.

We again had the complimentary continental breakfast in the restaurant and then met our
towncar to LGA for our flight to IAD.

The limo service, Rockaway Limo, was very reasonable ($25) and clean (Punki doesn't like cabs). They also all drive Lincoln Towncars which have more room in the backseat for long legged people like me.
We used them again a couple days later from the Times Square Westin back to JFK. The trip cost about $40.00.

I stayed there in June for one night as well... Yup, OK for a one night stay... any more than that stay somewhere in the city.

Will the unneeded, unpaid, (just kidding) bunch of other words, moderators please move this post to Starwood, that's where people put Stay Reports.
Thanks.
