double (almost triple) bump in ATL
Flying on Monday 12/9 - Houston to Orlando on DL via ATL.
My connecting flight to Orlando (11:20am flight) is oversold, and I volunteer to be bumped. For $400 I am confirmed on the 2:30 flight. The 2:30 flight is also oversold, and I volunteer again. For $200 I am confirmed on the 4:40 flight. (NOTE: I assume the $200 difference has to do with the amount of time before the next flight. On the first bump, they skipped over the 12:55 departure which must have also been full.) While waiting for the 4:40 flight, they announce they need 9-10 volunteers to be bumped, and they offer $400. I am second in line, thinking this is the Twilight Zone. However, this time they wind up not needing us, so it's only a double bump instead of a triple bump! My schedule was entirely flexible, and I was doing a lot of reading and work in the airport, so it turned out to be a valuable day. |
You really didn't want to visit the inlaws eh? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Got a double bump and shuttle van ride from lax to psp just last week. I only fly 2 or 3 times a year and this is the first time I've had a chance to volunteer or been bumped. This was on Skywest that I regard highly and was more then happy to volunteer.

We are flying to MCO on xmas day...thought bumps might be had...but checked and the flights are almost EMPTY. At least will be no problem with upgrades!!
