FRA-JFK LH First Class 747-8

LH400 December 2016
FRA-JFK
Boeing 747-8 D-ABYD
Seat 1A

It's Saturday morning, 07:30 AM. I just arrived to Lufthansa First Class Terminal in Frankfurt after a 15 min taxi ride from home. A friendly lady rushed to greet me, took my check-in luggage, handed it to her colleagues, took my passport and escorted me in to the terminal.

- Good morning Sir, welcome to First Class Terminal, would you like to have something to drink?
- Good morning, thank you, a glass of champagne would be nice?
- Oh absolutely, Sir.

There is something special with starting the day with a nice glass of champagne early in the morning. I sat down by the gorgeous looking bar and enjoyed my glass of bubbles. As I hadn't eaten anything in last 12 hours, I decided to hit the breakfast right away before I get too tipsy.

- Sir, over here is the breakfast buffet and here is the menu. Would you like me to bring you anything, coffee?
- I've heard the Eggs Benedict are splendid over here, could I have a portion of those please? Oh, and another glass of champagne if you don't mind?
- Absolutely Sir.

A new glass of champagne arrived right way. While waiting for my Eggs Benedict I had a look at the breakfast buffet.

- Sir, Eggs Benedict for you.
- Mmmmmm, looks lovely, thank you!

That was delicious. The poached eggs had perfectly runny yolks and the sauce Hollandaise tasted delicious. However, I was still a bit hungry and there seemed to be lots of interesting drinks available, so I better eat a bit more before I enter the cigar lounge.

I had another look at the buffet and the English Breakfast, my favourite always, looked absolutely irresistible!

Excellent! Few exotic fruits for dessert and I'm done here, time to hit the Cigar Lounge!

Oh my goodness, I'll be tasting these for the next two hours!

And these!

However, after the delicious but heavy breakfast I sit down with a glass of nice red wine and a cognac. Oh, and the cigar of course.

To be continued....

Few whiskies and cognacs later the FCT staff informed me, that in few minutes the limousine is ready to drive me to the aircraft. Great, time for one more champagne for the road!

I also got my rubber duck! All is fine now!

- Sir, can I escort you to your limousine?
- Oh yes, sure!

Nice new S-class Mercedes!

Very pleasant ride.

D-ABYD ready and waiting. My first flight with the latest and the greatest Queen of the Skies.

Most passengers had already boarded, me and another gentleman were escorted by the driver to the First Class cabin passing the last passengers queuing to Business Class. First Class was full, we were the last two to arrive.

Time to relax with yet another glass of champagne.

I was happy to receive the Rimowa amenity kit. Just wished it was dark blue like my luggage, but oh well

"Prepare for takeoff"

Off we go.

Bye bye Frankfurt!

My flight attendant was an extremely polite and friendly lady. She noticed that I seem to like champagne, so it kept on coming and coming...

Nice! I also flew FRA-JFK in F last month, but on the later A330 flight (LH 404). I was a bit disappointed that LH did not upgrade their Champagne offering in F during the holiday season.

Both breakfasts looked spectacular. I might've even added a bite of something sweet in between.

Nice writing style and pictures. The eggs Benedict looked great, but that English breakfast was awful. I know it´s England culture, but a plate with beans, tomatoes and sausages to me is for lunch, not breakfast. Rice was the only other thing missing to make it a traditional Brazilian lunch.

Time to eat!

Amuse-bouche was nice, but bring me the real thing!

Here we go, Caviar!

- Would you like chilled vodka or champagne with your caviar, Sir?
- Yes please!

I really loved the caviar. I actually asked what caviar is this? The lovely flight attendant said, just a moment Sir.

She brought me the actual caviar tin, very nice of her.

A little break with more champagne and a nice chilled Beluga vodka.

- Sir, which starter would you like or would you like all three?
- I've eaten quite a lot today, so I could go just with the...
- Sir I give you all three!
- Uhm, OK ...

And the main dish arrived, my favourite German dish, goose with red cabbage and dumplings. Very nice, maybe not the most luxurious dish, but it made me happy.

I start to be seriously full now, but gotta have some dessert!?

I go with a selection of cheese and red wine.

Oh and a coffee and a cognac with some seasonal biscuits.

Enjoyed the lovely champagne, wine and the cognac!
