I am not asking for BWatson to scream out and boast about what his travel costs merely to show off what he can and does spend. I am asking him to share with friends stories of what ORD-SFO-HKG-NRT-TPE-HGK-MNL-HKG-KUL-SIN-SYD-MEL-SYD-JNB-CPT-JNB-LHR-MAN-LHR-NCE-LHR-JFK-GIG-MIA-ORD-GRR in F is like, with all the $$ details. I want all the dirt because otherwise I have no idea what that type of a trip entails. When someone writes in their trip report that they ordered the 199X Opus One for $1xx because it was a great deal, at that point I know that Opus One costs a heck of a lot of money (lots more than my recent July 2002 Thunderbird http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif) and the price is one less item of which I will no longer be ignorant of the details. If I ever have the chance or need to purchase Opus One, I will know what a reasonable price should be.

I want to know how much his travel costs because without his sharing with me I would probably never know. I am just another working class type of guy who is living vicariously through BWatson's travel. I want to know so that I can dream "hmm...one day...". The WOW factor is part of the excitement of the dream.

I may not have my own whine cellar and I sure as heck can't tell the difference between this champagne or that sparkling wine, but I still can dream. And yes, even though I didn't grow up hob nobbing with members of a "VERY VERY prominent US family" at Harvey Nichols, I too was taught at a young age that that "those who are rich know they are and don't have to let the rest of the world know." The rest is all details that we share.

Actually, Martha will most probably get the same thing DeDe Brooks (ex-chair of Sotheby's) received - home imprisonment. Thus, she will be allowed to live in her posh apartment in New York or lovely manse on Mount Desert Island, receive visitors, and be allowed to leave twice a week to buy food. I think B Watson could live like that and not complain!

Of course, oddly enough, this kind of life actually makes people want to leave. DeDe Brooks, who has had a housekeeper all her life, now grocery shops herself since it is the only time she is allowed out!

I won't use either word but I will say... if you like to write, do it.

Sometimes it's fun to do these trip reports and then go back and reflect on some good times. Plus you may discover something that may help a Flyertalker doing the same trips down the line.

I have most of my trip reports saved in a scrap book to remember all the places I've been and the people I've met.
