Maui - Mahana or Whaler
Can anyone compare the Mahana and Whaler resorts. The Mahana seems less expensive but appears to have a terrific oceanfront view, but it is a bit further north. The Whaler is a little more expensive and they can't guarantee the specific room until 24 hours prior, but guarantee an oceanview.
Would like to hear comments on location as well as rooms, ammenities, etc. Thank you, |
Have no idea on the Mahana. Stayed at the Whaler years ago. They are nice condo's, furnished, comfy, and yes, all have some kind of an ocean view, all situated sideways with the front facing the ocean. Also, it is on, what I think anyway, the best beach on Maui-Kaanapali. It is next to several major hotels, with a walkway out in front, plus several shops in an attractive shopping area. I have to guess that the Mahana has nothing like this, but maybe other FT readers can help out. Aloha. ------------------ MD AA PLT,1 MLN Miles+ Hilton Gold Sheraton Gold |
I can not comment on the Whaler but someone has already for you.i know alot about the Mahana came very close to buying a unit there, this is what I can tell you.
It is run by Aston Hotels. The pool is a little smaller then the Whaler This is mostly an adult only type of place not good for the kids. There is really no beach area in front of the hotel need to walk down aways. Grocery store across the street. Well that is about it so I guess it's up to the location I would say the Whaler has the advantage there right in the middle of things The views are great try and stay above the 6th floor or you may have a palm tree in your way. The balconys are nice outside the master bedroom and the living room. [This message has been edited by PETEFLYS (edited 02-05-2002).] |
