Long Weekend in Toronto

As often as I can, I go back to Toronto to visit family and friends. Lately, I've been taking the red-eye flight LAX-ORD-YYZ in order to maximize my visiting time, despite the fact that usually no good comes from taking a flight that departs long after my bedtime.

Thinking about this trip report, which was started at 6am at ORD, seat 3A of UAL's 757 to YYZ (finished at 3pm, MDR, CA lounge chair 10BP (By Pool)), I realized that only Haiku would do.

No flight attendants;
they're delayed in Seattle.
Leave half hour late

I'm trying to sleep
"Miss Mimosa" beside me
Keeps ordering them!

I'm trying to sleep
We've got the good turbulence
Announcements SO loud

Turn the volume down!
Stop ordering Mimosas!
I'm trying to sleep!

Now we are landing
Hot towels: not hot, not wet
Coffee! RCC

Next '57
Why I have seat opponent
on such empty flight?

Land at YYZ
Carlito comes to get me
Visit family

BBQ with friends
Talking and laughing 'til late
Wow, this sure is fun!

Day at Jon's cottage
New 21-foot Chriscraft
Fast, excellent boat!

Had such a good time
did not check my plane ticket
Left for airport late...

Who misses a flight
for such a stupid reason?
Well, that would be me.

Memorial Day
Call United and panic
Phone agent useless!

Airport is better
Agent got me on good flights
My upgrades came through!

Biz class, jumbo jet
with surly flight attendants
Bet FC nicer!

Flight arrived early
Wait almost hour for gate,
then 20 for cab.

Lion in Vegas
Time for me to get some sleep.
That was 5-star trip!

I think Mr. Lion has some competition for fine trip reports!!

FOUR PAWS UP HUNNYBEAR.

(Sorry, it's too early in the morning to think in Haiku.)

Delightful reading.
I don't want moose sushi though.
Anything but that.

Hunnybear Jun 4, 2000 9:37 am

You will not eat it?
Moose sushi is called Mooshi
We eat it with rice

Since I'm bad with poetry, I'm not going to even try haiku! But I'll still give a nice thanks reply:

I guess Haiku is allowed, but I have been warned against posting a trip report to Massachusetts using Limericks.

Poor Nantucket isle
Haiku need not rhyme, you see
But you can think one

There once was a man
From the town of Nantucket---
Oops, best not go there...

I am struck with awe!
HunnyBear, we're not worthy
Of your witty style.
