Labor Day Weekend Trip To Seattle
I just returned from short trip to Seattle. I was helping one of my best friend with moving. I booked the reservation using United PC Connection, and took the ticket office ticketing option as pgupta011 suggested. I used a voucher I received from Paris trip in last March, and I gave my friend an DL's UA award ticket thanks to AmEx DL Optima card's 20K sign up bonus. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
The PC connection bonus miles haven't showed up yet with UA 217 IAD-SEA flight credit. On Sept4, UA 217 took off on time. The flight was unevenful. I received low fat breakfast cosisting a cold multigrain bagle and potato pancake(?). I wish I didn't order the special meal. The movie was Notting Hill with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant which I actually enjoyed it; I usually don't watch movies on flights. A good date movie I thought. The flight arrived about 10 min early. My friend and I got confused about rental car locations after we picked up our luggages. Signs and directions weren't too clear but we managed to locate the National rental car's Emerald Isle at the first level of the parking lot. I used UA rental car coupon for the 2 days rental. I was told that when I have coupons or vouchers I should check-in at the National rental car desk then go to Emerald Isle. I found out later that Emerald Isle booth attendent credited Delta FF even though I gave him UA MP card! This is second time in a row. I'm going to remove DL FF from my profile. I only have less than 200 miles on DL now and I rather have miles on UA account. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif I spend Sat shopping with my friend. We did have some time for site seeing on Sun. It's nice/pleasant place to live. There were coffeeshops everywhere! I took QuietLion's advice on Tully and I liked it, but there was no escaping from Charbuck's presence though; we went to Starbucks a couple of time since we couldn't find any alternatives nearby. Thanks to Rudi, I used a upgrade coupon for the return trip UA 216 which was on 777. It wasn't fitted with individual monitors but same/similar chair as one on 747-400 I flew in July. Is is my imagination or what? It felt like BC's chair on 747's upper deck was wider. Compare to LAX-IAD 747 BC, the food didn't quite measure up. The meals, breakfast and snack, were smaller portion. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif And on 777s there is no Hawaiian music channel. I wonder why, is it because there no 777 service on Pacific flights? Anyway, I had to settle with comfortable seat. With this trip, I'm 3550 miles short of Premier status or 1 transcontinental RT. Thanks F-T, especially Rudi for the upgrade coupon! ------------------ Dan "It is not doing the things we like to do, but liking the things we have to do, that makes life blessed." - Goethe |
Dilbert... you're right about that missing Hawaiian music channel. United must get a ton of complaints about it from fans...

Well shoot, Dilbert, I didn't know it was this weekend. Sorry we missed you. Next time let us know when you are here and we can get together at least for a drink. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I, too, would have been happy to meet you.
BTW, for future reference, I also very much like Seattle's Best Coffee (even more than Tully's). And there are four of them that I know of at SeaTac: 1) Right in front of the security entrance to Concourse A 2) Near the end of Concourse D 3) Next to the escalators in the South Satellite 4) Next to the escalators in the North Satellite Sorry the weather was a bit tough on Sunday, but I hope yesterday made up for it! ------------------ Michael OnePass Platinum [This message has been edited by mweiss (edited 09-07-1999).] |
