Icelandair Saga Class BOS-KEF-AMS & AMS-KEF-BOS
In February I flew Icelandair RT to AMS via KEF in Saga Class as Delta RT BOS-AMS was $8k and this was about $1,700. I had a good experience and would do it again.
Currently FI flies 757s however I believe is adding a couple 767s into the fleet.
Saga class is basically the equivalent of domestic First with reclining leather seats but no lie flat.
Economy is 3x3 and Saga is 2x2. There were 24 Saga seats on each plane with Economy Comfort right behind.
In BOS you have access to the AF lounge, in KEF, to their Saga lounge and in AMS to one of the Swissport lounges.
Service onboard was efficient. FAs were pleasant but not overly friendly. Al meals were served on a single tray. Drink refills were performed as needed.
BOS-KEF
Departure was around 9:00 p.m. EDT. Started out with a glass of sparkling wine in a plastic glass for a PDB. Departure was on time.

I had pre-ordered the sliced beef dinner and assumed it was warm but it was a cold pate with a cured ham and blue cheese appetizer, the sliced beef with mayo, pickles, crispy onion straws and potato salad.

By and large the meal was good.
Warm croissants and coffee were served prior to landing.
We landed and used a staircase to deplane but walked right inside. Passport control was quick and was just a passport stamp. They are not part of the EU but are in the Schengen zone so no further passport control was needed in AMS.
KEF Saga Lounge
The lounge is located one floor below the main level just after you pass through passport control. The lounge has a decent selection of foods but it would be nice if there was some labeing. I just had a quick bite and a coffee as I only had an hour layover.

KEF-AMS
We boarded a bus and were brought to this plane which was accessed again by a staircase.
Upon being seated I was served a shot glass of an orange liquid. I asked what it was and was informed by the FA that is was very good. I gulped it. Not bad. On the breakfast menu later I saw that it was an carrot ginger shot.

After takeoff we were served breakfast. I had pre-ordered a fruitplate but there was no mention of it and I was served an omelet, with potatoes, tomatoes, sausage and a side of yogurt in a glass jar with with granola. All very good and beat the fruit plate!

AMS Airport
Returning from AMS I stopped at the Swissport loungue which was a little lacking in food. It seemed like it was soups and crackers. Perhaps it was due to the fact that it was between breakfast and lunch? They did have self serve Heineken on tap which was nice.
AMS-KEF
On board there were no PDB but a cardboard box of pretzels and drinks were served after takeoff.

I had preordered lunch but there was no mention of it. Choices were a chicken and a plaice (A sort of fish). I got the chicken that was decent but perhaps the plaice was good as well.

Saga Lounge
I stopped in quickly for a snack and had cured meats of some sort and a Gull beer. Again, I wish they had signs for the food. The Gull was forgetable and I left half of it untouched.
KEF-BOS
All of the US flights depart within 15 minutes of each other so it seemed like bedlam in passport control and in the departure area but again passport control was a mere formality. Flights are not announced but people just start flowing towards gates and surprisingly we all seemed to leave on time.
I had preordered the sliced beef and had forgotten to change my selection while in the Netherlands so I was served the same meal again. Again, was decent but the starter was a glass jar of lobster salad. That was a nice touch and it was delicious.

All in all, I will probably choose Icelandair for my next trip to Amsterdam.
