SIN-CGK-SYD AF/Garuda Business SYD-BKK-HKG-SIN Thai First/United First

TRIP REPORT W Singapore, AIR FRANCE SIN-CGK Garuda Airlines CGK-SYD Business Class, Thai Airways SYD-BKK-HKG United HKG-SIN

Part 1: W Singapore Sentosa Cove
Part 2: SIN-CGK Air France
Part 3: CGK-SYD Garuda Airlines
Part 4 SYD-BKK-HKG Thai Airways First Class
Part 4: Hong Kong Day trip
Part 5: HKG-SIN United Airlines First Class

This is a trip report within a trip. I was on a separate ticket on Delta airlines to Singapore for work and I had the choice to stay the weekend in Singapore before flying back to NYC. Since I've been to Singapore multiple times and the points that I earned on my First Class Lufthansa trip via my United Airlines account was running out, I decided to take a trip to Sydney, Australia for the weekend to see some friends (so I bought some extra points to book a one way ticket from SYD-SIN in First and then use Delta sky miles from SIN-SYD Business), yes a trip to Australia for the weekend, which of course I thought would be a fun easy trip, then fly back to Singapore to connect to my flight back to NYC on Delta on the Monday morning. The thing is the routing from Sydney was via BKK, HKG, SIN, NRT, JFK! Yep I was doing that routing ha ha. But here's the thing, everytime I wanted to use the United points everything was so expensive out of NYC, this trip would cost 40K points so this was a chance to try Thai and United in First.

So I used my Delta points to fly from Singapore on Air France to Jakarta then connect to Garuda Airlines to Sydney. I have never flown Garuda before so that was going to be exciting. On the Return I would fly Sunday night on Thai from SYD to BKK then to HKG for a full afternoon/evening then United First to Singapore then Delta One back to the States that morning at 6am. But I like most of you guys I am crazy flyer talk member haha.

I began this journey on Delta from JFK via NRT to SIN in Business class using Global Upgrade Certificates, which I have written about before so I am going to begin this Trip Report from my arrival in Singapore

After an exhausting journey from New York City I arrived in Singapore at 11:30pm and a quick Immigration entry into Singapore I was greeted by the W Singapore handler who escorted me out to a waiting car to the W Singapore. It was a quick silent 30min drive to the hotel. I arrived and the door was opened with a happy greeting Mr nycflyer75 welcome to W Singapore Sentosa. He grabbed my carry-on bags and escorted me to a glass elevator with a seat that would take me up one floor up, I mean I could have walked up the red carpet stairs. I was greeted as a SPG Platinum member and with the magic words I was upgraded to a Marvelous Suite, Oh Heyyy! Finally a real upgrade and not having to politely fight for an upgrade, I showed my bleached pearly whites and was excited to check-in to my suite. W Singapore is a Keyless hotel and I was excited to use my iPhone and or apple watch to open my door, which I had a blast using at the W Fort Lauderdale, like a happy kids I open, I close, I open, I close.

I was escorted to my room on the top 3rd floor through a long corridor by a chatty young Bellboy excited to learn about my travels and NYC.

I tried open the front door with my apple watch but alas it wasn't working so had to go the old fashion ok semi old way of using the keycard. Entering the the hallway to the room, I was gasping at the gorgeous lighting and fixture of the entrance. Trying to keep my cool, like this is normal way of life I was screaming like a middle aged women on the price is right tv show! Ha.

The suite was absolutely gorgeous with a living room, two bathrooms, master bedroom and a 180 degree outdoor deck. It was freaking awesome. Everything was push bottom controls which I absolutely love. I mean in my NYC apartment, my front door is electronic, and can be opened via my apple watch and iPhone and I have Alexa (Amazon Echo) that controls my TV, lights, air conditioners via voice control. Think Siri that is always on and connected to my home.

So this Suite was my true dream!

I was exhausted but I was peckish so I decided to order some room-service Curry and rice and while I waited I took a quick shower in the fabulous rain shower which had amazing water pressure and of course I love the W hotels with their bliss products and surprisingly the W Singapore has full size bottles of Bliss products!

After the tasty Curry and Rice I prepared for bed. As I lay in bed, I was looking at the gorgeous lighting and then within seconds I passed out, with light remote in hand and the lights still on!!!

About 4am I woke up and could not get back to sleep, so what to do, I could go to the 24 Fit Gym and work out like crazy to one day look hot again in a speedo or take a bath... hmmm I chose the latter, so there I am 4:20am sitting in my deep tub with the blinds up and the tv blaring some random Singapore music TV channel, splashing around like Queen of... well just a queen at the club living it up in the bathtub.

I decided to go have breakfast at the Kitchen Table Restaurant and since I had free breakfast, well why not! It was 6:30am and I headed down to sit and feast on what W Singapore had to offer.
Well the buffet was rather nice, with lots on offer and as always with W hotels it was breakfast, lunch and Dinner rolled into one. Was it the best buffet, no, I have had better at the W hotel Hong Kong and W Bangkok but with that being said, It was nonetheless lots of food.

I sat for a good 1.5hr breakfast and stuffed my face, do I really need to eat all this food, I was like a cow grazing, not necessary but what else to do at that time of the morning! I usually drink a protein shake with a banana for breakfast and I am totally ok with that but all of sudden, I see food and I feel like Augustus Gloop in Charlie and the chocolate factory! Must EAT or I die!

I had meetings to go to that afternoon, so I decided to bit the bullet and go to the gym. The gym is definitely gorgeous and nice and chilled. I love Singapore but the humid, hot air hits you like a punch to the face!

One of the cool things about the hotel is they do turn down service, they cleaned in the morning and cleaned completely again in the evening replacing any used Bliss bottles well with of course full bottle of bliss products so, what does any savy person do in this instance....not take them...ha totally taking them! What a great present for my friends in Sydney. So I kept the used bottle and threw the brand new bottles into my carry-on, yes that means I would have to check my carry-on to Sydney, but it was worth it. Would Customs stop me in Australia? Well its not like I had a suitcase full of Products and underwear, ok I would totally throw out the underwear and go commando! I was at the hotel for 3 days and racked up a lot of bottles!

W Singapore Porsche Car service

On my last day I finished working at 12pm and headed back to the hotel and decided to take one last soak in the gorgeous tub. At 6'1 I can be completely submerged, its divine, compared to my bucket size bathtub in my NYC apartment.
at 2pm, I took the W Singapore Porsche to the Airport, which is great and it has Wifi so I could finish some last minute emails. I had an amazing time staying at the W Singapore Sentosa Cove, which worked out perfectly for me but I know some people prefer to be downtown Singapore but that was totally ok with me.

Now my crazy weekend journey was to begin. To be honest I love trying new airlines and scoping them out and comparing them to my experiences on my home airlines Delta. I was ready for no sleep so I could experience everything the airlines had to offer. I can sleep when I am dead! Wait thats not good for my skin and eyes I need to look fresh so I can snag a husband in first class haha.

This would be my second time in First class. Bringing my total to 3 airlines in First. woohoo! Let the champagne flow begin!

TRIP REPORT W Singapore, AIR FRANCE SIN-CGK Garuda Airlines CGK-SYD Business Class, Thai Airways SYD-BKK-HKG United HKG-SIN

Part 1: W Singapore Sentosa Cove
Part 2: SIN-CGK Air France
Part 3 CGK - SYD Garuda Business Class
Part 4: SYD-BKK-HKG Thai Airways First Class
Part 5: Hong Kong Day trip
Part 6: HKG-SIN United Airlines First Class

After a quick trip from the W Singapore I entered Changi airport and this would be the first time arriving at the airport in the afternoon, as I usually fly Delta and I am forced to get up at the wee hours of the morning for a flight out at ungodly hour of 5 or 6am, like seriously who looks good at that time of morning haha.

So I was excited to see the hustle and bustle of Changi airport. I headed over to Air France check in counter and was seen right away. Unfortunately today's flight would be on the old 773 business class and not the chic new business class seats. They changed it at the last minute, argh but nonetheless I was headed to Sydney for a fun weekend. Friday afternoon at Changi Airport was full of people. One of my favorite things to do is look at the flight departure board and wonder where everyone is going.

With boarding pass in hand I head to immigration which is probably the nicest I have ever experienced they even give you candy! Within a few seconds I was out of the country and heading to the contract lounge Dnata. Dnata lounge is located close to Immigration.

I was admitted quickly with a warm welcome. I was quite surprised with the new lounge. Far better than the old contract lounge - sky view.
The lounge is quiet large but it was also extremely busy. One thing I loved is the new coffee bar with a wonderful cheerful barista. There was a smorgasbord of food Asian and Western dishes. I was starving so I gobbled up as much as I could. Why do I eat so much in the lounges!!!

When you enter there is 3 major separate areas to left is the main seating area where most people sat, and to the right past the buffet was a small dining area and behind a glass door was enclosed seating area, so naturally I went there. It felt like an exclusives roped off area of a night club, now where is the bottle serve. I stayed in there for an hour alone, with people often walking past wondering why I was in there and who I was, even one of the waiters came by and asked if I wanted anything, to which I declined. I was curious why no-one decided to venture in. Perhaps they rope it off for First class but I know for fact the Air France use Quay lounge for La Premiere but not sure about the other airlines that use the contract lounge, Nevertheless I enjoyed the quiet time.

It was soon time to head to the gate. I was one of the last people to get into the gate area after security as they already had begun boarding. I decided to stay as long as I could to use the free wifi before boarding. They called last call and clearly they were talking about me so I headed to the aircraft. I was warmly welcomed on board. I spoke French and from then on I was always address in French, which was a nice even though clearly they would have heard an accent. Sometimes they just change to English, thanks for indulging me haha

I sat in 3A in the mini cabin behind First Class, which was empty and to my surprise so was my little cabin. What a treat! I had 3 flight attendants gushing over me with service which was one of the best that I have had on Air France. I was served a light meal and I slept for an hour or so and bam we were on final approach to Jakarta. It was a quick trip from Singapore to Jakarta and now I was more then excited to try a brand new airline. Garuda Indonesia. Wooooo
