Indeed chongl, Vienna is always worth a trip and the Park Hyatt my favourite hotel in this wonderful city.
I hear you, offerendum, but I prefer to pay for my trips and be a free man...
Thanks a lot Lawro, glad you enjoyed the report!
Oh, that was you I saw stepping out of this beast!
Well, in that case let me just say that you wear the thawb with style, Madone59...

This was our second stay in as many years at my favourite hotel in Hamburg, the beautiful Vier Jahreszeiten.
Last time we stayed in the Maria Callas Suite, this time it was a Deluxe Alster Suite.
The view from our room in February...
...and last September.
Originally the idea was to attend a concert at the newly-opened Elbphilharmonie, but after my Amex concierge told me that the only available tickets were being sold at five times the original price on the black market, I passed.
This is as close as I came to said building, another masterpiece by Herzog & De Meuron.
Even the guided tours were completely sold out, but at least I managed to access the Plaza, a public space located between the original brick building and the new glass structure.
Views from the Plaza.
As the weather was pretty lousy we decided to go for an afternoon tea at the Wohnhalle, a cosy lounging space of the hotel.
In anticipation of the dinner at Haerlin, we only had some tea and delicious Rote Grütze.
Haerlin, the hotel's two Michelin star, 19 Gault & Millau point restaurant. One of my favourite places in Germany.
All dishes were wonderful...
...but the scallop, truffle and foie gras carpaccio was out of this world.
The only place to go on the morning after an amazing dinner.
We then headed to Blankenese, a residential neighbourhood outside the city center to sample a local specialty, Fischbrötchen.
The Bavarian in me couldn't resist to order one of these...
We were still hungry and decided to order a real dish (Norwegian Skrei), which was turned out to be excellent as well.
The view from our table.
OK then.
On the way back we drove by the Airbus factory and got a glimpse of the iconic Skylink.
We explored the city a bit more...
...and concluded the day with a pleasant dinner at Die Bank.
On the last day of our short trip we drove to Lübeck for some sightseeing and some calorie hunting at Niederegger, a famous Marzipan shop.
First some hearty fare...
...followed by some tough decisions.
I think I'll have one of each, thank you very much.
Can you guess what kind of road I'm driving on?
Up Next: a weekend in Milan.

Well there is 5 hours of my life I’ll never get back - made the “mistake” of looking at this thread & ultimately re-reading all of your trip reports.
Excellent work MrJR, hope to see you posting more of your adventures soon.
