SQ and TG C to a Unique Skyscraper in BKK (and a litte SIN as well)

Its been a few das since i took that trip - but as i just returned from another one it guess its at least time to finish this report.

The first flight of the trip was with Thai Airways from Munich to Bangkok.

As Thai has no own Lounge at MUC i visited the Lufthansa Senator Lounge for a few quick bites as i missed lunch at home bevore driving to the airport.

And soon after it was already time for Boarding. Thai uses a Boeing 747-400 on the MUC-BKK Route.

Business Class is on the Main Deck as well as on the Upper Deck - i had my Seat on the Upper Deck.

I got the first Gin & Tonic (and some Nuts) soon after Takeoff

Followed by lunch a few minutes later.

First some Satay

Followed by Tuna (sorry - lost the menu somewhere so i cant tell you what the rest was)

As main Course there where four different Choices available - i had theChicken in Green Curry

This was followed by some cheese.

Breakfast was served about one and a half hours bevore Landing

First some Fruits

and a Champignon Crepe as Main

Bangkok Part 1

As the flight from Munich arrives early in the morning - and my next flight to Singapore would depart late in the evening the next day i had quite some time to explore Bangkok.

At first i walked towards the River and took one of the boats upstream towards the palace.

But while talking to some other tourists i missed my stop - so i left the boat one stop later, near Khao San Road.

Would you like to guess when my trip took place.

And here we have the most honest and trustworthy public transport anywhere in the world!

From Khao San Road i walked east.

towards Wat Thepthidaram Worawihan

And then returned back towards my hotel.

Sathorn Unique Skyscraper

Those of you that read some of my other Tripreports may know that one of my hobbys is visiting interesting Skyscrapers.

Even if Bangkok isn't famous for its Skyscrapers like some other citys - there is a really special one to see in Bangkok - the Sathorn Unique Tower. What makes it intersting is, that during the Financial Crisis in 1997 the company building it ran out of money and it got never finished.

At that moment the shell of the building was almost finished (all 49 Floors) and even the work on the interior had started on some floors - and nothing happend since then…

Here is how it looks like from the outside:

If you google it you find some interesting storys how you can get access. (Actually i am not sure if it is even allowed…) As the Gate leading to the property was wide open when i got there i simply walked in.
(The gate was closed when i left - so how i got out is a little more difficult)

The building is actually not totally abandoned - there are people living on the first floors.

Of course there where no Elevators i could use - so i had to use the staircase instead. (Thankfully i brought a flashlight, as there was neither light nor a railing in the staircase)

The lower floors

In the 6. or 7. Floor there was a huge terrace from where i had a nice view over the surrounding buildings.

The beginning of the Staircase was in the open - higher up it was between four concrete walls.

Each Appartment has its own balcony

With a nice view of course.

Some work on the interior had already started when they ran out of money.

On the 24. Floor (thats how high i went)

Another one of the Apartments.

Bathroom interior.

Wooden Floor

Mirror

There has been more than one suicide in that building. In fact it has a bit of a reputation. You could have actually gone to Lebua for great view of the surrounding area.

How did you exit, since the gate was closed?
Were you concerned about getting robbed by any of the long-term residents in the skyscraper? I'm glad you're safe but no way would I feel safe going there alone or without several reliable friends!
