Tokyo to Fiji Quick Jaunt
Ex-pat living in the Tokyo area. I decided to take my wife to Fiji for a quick three day get away. We did a staycation in Tokyo the night before leaving for fun. Here's my review of the Hyatt Regency Tokyo: http://thepointsjock.wordpress.com/2...-tokyo-review/
Probably one of, if not the best deal for a cat 3 Hyatt anywhere. It's like walking into a cathedral in the lobby with stained glass windows and 5 story ceilings. It has a great location 10 min out the west entrance of Shinjuku stadium. The regency club was the biggest I've been to with decent spreads of warm and cold food for cocktail hour. Breakfast in the club was decent but warm options, as usual, were a little lacking. We had a king delux room on the 23rd floor. It was nothing to write home about but did have plugs in the bedside table, a huge pet peeve of mine when missing, an updated bathroom with vessel sink, separate shower stall, and good lighting. The views from the property are impressive with either a good Tokyo or park view. The free shuttle to Shinjuku station every ten minutes is very convenient. We used the small gym on the top floor, difficult to reach with half the elevators stopping at the 27th floor. The pool was nice, hot tub great, and staff at the spa wonderful. A great one night stay before heading to Narita the next day. |
And I just finished my Air New Zealand Business Premier review for our flight down here:http://thepointsjock.wordpress.com/2...at-30000-feet/
I had read several trip reports before this flight as it was my first ANZ trip. I have to say overall I was completely disappointed with the in flight entertainment and worn out seats on the 777-200. My motors for seat control jammed for the trip and flight attendants had to use manual switches every time I wanted to adjust my seat. The IFE skipped like an old Discman and the TV was so dark even with brightness turned all the way up that I couldn't see half the movies. Dinner was poor which was a Japanese burger but breakfast of cinnamon pancakes was pretty good. There were some other small nuisances which were disappointing such as no lab amenities, a flight attendant that woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and a terrible seat mate sitting behind me that left her reading light on all night and slammed her tray table many times which is stored in my rear partition. Currently at the Outrigger on the Lagoon. First impression is meh... Full report to come. |
