Dom Pérignon and Cake on US Airways First Class DCA-FLL

After an international trip to Asia and Africa to celebrate my birthday, I was returning to DCA to meet up with with friends and family. We were all going to go down to FLL for a celebratory weekend at The Westin Diplomat.

Upon arrival at DCA I went to the lounge only to be told to go straight to the conference room, they were expecting me. The conference room had been decorated for my birthday and it was time to start celebrating. A bottle of Dom was on ice and there was a cake with the route map of the trip to Africa and Asia I has just taken. Very nice and surreal to be enjoying such a nice beverage in the US Airways club.

Finally it was time to board the flight down to FLL. My friends and I were all seated in adjacent First Class seats so the celebration could continue in the air. Another bottle was put on ice as soon as we boarded and pre-departure drinks were served in glassware. After take-off the Dom was opened and served in glass champagne flutes. Other passengers started to take notice as well.

It was finally time to serve the cake, which was a delicious chocolate fudge cake. There was plenty to go around so the flight attendants and pilots all got a slice. We noticed there was a US CP stuck in coach so we also sent a slice of cake back to him as well. He was very thankful!

Your friends throw you a birthday party in the airline lounge and on board the plane, and you include the pilots, flight attendants, and other CP passengers that you happen to know are aboard.

I think this belongs ion the "You know you fly too much thread"!

Happy Birthday!

How did you manage to get the DOM on board?!

Great snippet to your TR. But, how, on earth, did you manage to get the Dom on board?! ;)

I am shocked to see something so rare like FOOD in US Airways First Class! :p

Seems over the top for US airways
I somehow do not associate them with such marketing

One of the best flights of my over 750 in my life. Had so much fun! I think my favorite part was upon deplaning in FLL...

Another F passenger: "WOW you guys really had a celebration! I'm jealous!"
Me: "Yeah, sorry we didn't hand out cake to everyone"
F Pax: "It wasn't the cake, it was the Dom!"

Popping bottles on a PJ is de rigueur, but popping Dom in US F? Unprecedented. Do FAs even allow this? And champagne flutes? US doesn't even have glassware!!! ...fffffff

Finally, that cake printout of your gcmap routing is totally sweet.

It was all so much fun!! The FAs (and lounge staff) loved being a part of it. ^

When we gave the pilot his piece of cake we made sure it had the DCA-FLL line on it.
