A trip to HKG on UA, OZ and SQ J

Hi,

Last November I made a trip using award miles on UA MP and Lifemiles to HKG. I used OZ from SEA-ICN-HKG and returned on SQ HKG-SFO. I was able to find plenty of availability with SQ through Lifemiles but nothing using UA MP.

OZ proved to be an excellent carrier. Service was top notch and the FA's were some of the most attentive and proactive that I ever had the pleasure to fly with. SQ was truly special and the FA's lived up to their iconic reputation.

Below are the links:

Enjoy.

Nice to see another report from you, aw. Asiana's Business Class service looks fantastic! The seats look to be exactly the same as those on EVA 747-400 Premium Laurel Class.

I have to say, OZ business has improved! Either that, or your superior pictures. Great report!

The OZ SEA - ICN looks great, however the Korean desert - it could be presented much better. However, thanks for the post!

Just to point out you didn't walk into the UA IFL in HKG, in a matter of fact there is no way you can "wander" into the IFL at all.

The UA IFL is in a separate room inside the RCC, the entrance to the IFL is thru an unmarked door (I had seen now they finally put a big sign next to the door saying "United Global First lounge") right before you go into the RCC immediately to the right at the front desk.

There is a separate buffet station inside the IFL (just one) and also with a cook-to-order menus, it also has separate toilets and showers. Trust me on this, the UA IFL in HKG has a lot more offer than just sushi, even the fridge inside the IFL has a variety of bottled fruit juices on offer which in RCC doesn't have.

What you see inside the RCC that you feel different area with sushi is just part of the RCC (the RCC in HKG is not small at all, it has more than one food station with multiple food stations, multiple drinks fridges). The sushi was there because NH also use this lounge. (NH has 5 flights per day out of HKG morning and mid-afternoon)

Out of the 3 *A lounge in HKG, UA RCC and IFL is the most exclusive of all 3, as UA is the only one with a separate IFL complete with full amenities, SQ has none (they used to have a F side before remodelling, now just one big lounge with a roped off seating area for F and Suites inside the lounge), TG has a roped off F section separate by a few shelves.
