2013-05 RTW: EY Y; FD; NH J; DL J; DL F; OS J (new)

Finally I found some time to upload the pictures from my Summer round the world trip. The flights were limited to the Northern hemisphere, but still it was my first full RTW.

Flights summary:

1) DME-AUH-BKK in EY Y, sold as AB fare, AUH-BKK was EY operated AB coded; funny enough EY, the operating carrier did not have low one way fares for this route
2) DMK-RGN FD (Thai AirAsia)
3) RGN-NRT-HNL was the courtesy of Myanmar Government () and FT (RGN-YVR fare with a stopover in HNL)
4) HNL-ATL-LGA DL domestic first, a separate ticket
5) JFK-VIE-DME OS J as part of a *A unannounced supersale ex US ticket; new long-haul J of OS is IMPRESSIVE!

The flightmap, courtesy of Circle Trip Mapper.

The start of my trip, Moscow Domodedovo (DME) airport.

Sadly not my class of travel today

Economy class of 320s is new and great! Now Moscow is served by Jet Airways 330 aircrafts though.

Electricity in economy - well happens sometimes... But electricity on 320 is a rare occasion!!!

My SFML was served before others, but the food itself was just OK, nothing to write about.

Very good I would say for economy class headphones!

Economy class menu! This kind of stuff was not available on the next AUH-BKK though, so maybe market specific.

Boeing 777 from AUH to BKK during boarding.

Just a flight map.

SFML on AUH-BKK was a bit worse as you can see than on Moscow route.

The flight was relatively empty...

Airasia as you know flies from Don Mueang airport/ DMK.

Chicken rice is a paid meal, but inexpensive and good!

Tropical clouds multi layer deep clouds are not the ones you can see in Russian sky, at least often.

Delicious hot ground coffee, joking

Yangon and Bago rivers' delta

NH business jet is already waiting for me under the rain:

Sky Smile lounge of MAI used by NH, sitting area. I met one FlyerTalker here, and with the other person i got acquainted later on NRT-HNL flight when I noticed a passenger from RGN-NRT flight.

ANA headphones (details - below)

Digiplayer with its placeholder

A spacious restroom with TWO windows!!!

Unknown snack

Meal served. I chose pork, half lobster did sound tempting (its normally served in first class) but i thought it was too small for me

At Narita airport

A morning train to Tokyo (a slow/ cheap one) - was very empty in the beginning.

OBAMA (!) oyster in the oyster shells collection somewhere in Shibuya

Japanese like Russians are heavy smokers

Infamous Shibuya crossing

And finally promised NH headphones details: Sony MDR-5760

The same day but in the evening I had a night DL flight to Honolulu, Hawaii. I was very late to the lounge (operated by AF as I could understand) but managed to have a shower and to drink a water bottle.

The flight was operated by Boeing 747 and I was lucky to sit on the second floor (for the first time ever! on 747). Predeparture drink was for sure a glass of sparkling wine!

The menu details are below, i chose Japanese selection.

Meals service started

I am not good in Japanese cuisine so can't explain what it was; it was OK, i would say it was something more than that.

A sake bottle

Love flightmaps

Main meal

The dessert

And finally the breakfast before landing at HNL

Love Waikiki for being a busy city and retaining tropical holiday aroma

DL check-in area at HNL

Ex NW Airbus 330 which will soon take me to the sky

Domestic first class menu if just a piece of paper...

Pre-departure drink served in a plastic glass - a tradition for DL domestic first

NW cocoon seats in 2-2-2 configuration

HNL-ATL on-board snack

Main meal - a chicken... Forget about beef in domestic first within North America... Even on such a long flight

Ice-cream

Flight information

Breakfast, a truly domestic one

After flight seats

I intentionally booked about 6 hours layover in ATL to do some work. I transitted ATL several times but was pleasantly surprised this time, enjoyed sitting in the area with a piano

OMG, so many flights on display!!!

ATL-LGA domestic first DL seating

I got a salad as I did not know what the policy was at that time for short haul domestic first meals but got a warm meal (guess what? yeah a chicken, of course!!!) and my salad went to a trash bin on arrival to LGA.

JFK Terminal 1 check-in area

Lufthansa check-in area

Lufthansa Lounge at T1

I arrived early to do some work and to enjoy the lounge food as I new it's a bit better than domestic airlines offer in the US.

Boarding area to my OS flight to Vienna

My bird for today called 'Heart of Europe'

My 5A seat, love it!!!

Some small details which distinguish OS outfit from other airlines.

A DO&CO flying chef

My seat was with two isles, the best in a cabin

A Hi-Tech seat control panel look stylish, unlike DL seats on 767-400 here you can find the softness adjusting button (in fact once I thought DL seat is too firm)

Fresh juice

Second service meal - as a flight is relatively short one can tick 'do not bother' box, but not me - I had to taste everything

The Menu, well not really A la Carte but very good anyways!

Wine card (sparkling wine page)

Headphones notice

OS Asia flight map - I knew I am to fly to BKK with OS (just returned 08 December now...) so I was curious to see where else they fly to.

Wine card continued

Bar drinks page

Legroom...

Meal services started

A soup is something many people like to miss if they dont ask for it specifically - beware!!!

I kinda like beef on ex-US flights, in fact DL loads beef to MOW-NYC return flight in JFK as what they can get in Moscow is complete crap unfortunately.

Lovely flight maps

Something noticable on OS long haul flights is separate coffee menu.

Another touch of first class is a pillowcase and seat/ blanket cover

Breakfast time

In-seat table

OS giveaway - personal amenity kit. Do not remember now if I had a lipstick inside, but on my recent flight from BKK to VIE it was not available, very strange in fact.

Ah! And the high-tech remote control!!! The screen is amasing, video quality is very good; the downside is that the number of movies is VERY limited as many people point out. On the other hand it eases the selection

VIE airport has some public workdesks

And finally my J short-haul meal on VIE-DME; nothing special to talk about.
