My first Club Europe flight. OK, Legroom poor, food great, nice staff. I don’t think I’d fork out the extra cash for this product unless I was desperate for TP’s. For non-status travellers though it gives you Lounge access beforehand and afterwards if you are connecting and for Reward Saver Flights (RFS) these can prove excellent value compared to cash flights. You can even pay part cash/part Avios too.
The flight back to Edinburgh. The coveted row 27 on the BA 767. Great seat!!!!!!!
Well I hope I haven’t missed anything out and that you have may have enjoyed my little adventure. A great holiday, some nice flight experiences, the Do was great and I enjoyed the Madrid Lounge.
Bye for now as that is IT!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers
Pete

Hi PETER01. Excellent TR. You have given me some ideas now next time I go to HK. When I was there in March (1st time) I stuck with doing stuff on Kowloon and HK Island only.
At least you ha good A380 experiences this time, I imagine the broken plate was less of an issue than the freezing temperature you experienced to LAX.
What a bizarre exprerience with IB at MAD. I have not yet had a seat stealer yet, but I would be simiarly annoyed.

Another fine report by my fellow Scotsman. ^
The MAD lounge is very nice....probably down to the fact that IB don't do F which is advantageous as it helps make their long haul J product better too.
You do seem to like Hong Kong.....far too busy and commercialised for my liking I'm afraid. Two visits have been enough for me.

Thanks ExpatSomchai.
Thank you too KARFA Yes there is loads to see and do off the beaten track and I have only scratched the surface I think. The flights were indeed fine especially the exit seat but the next time I will try the 25D seat which looks good for Y.
That's the first time I think someone has been in my seat but it was all resolved fairly quickly.
Cheers Moomba I know you love HKG too and hope I may have given you some ideas for your next visit. I'll be back for sure but next time I am going somewhere else for a change.
Thanks for your kind words HIDDY, appreciated.
Yes I was very pleased with the MAD Lounge. Very airy with nice views, plenty of seats and a decent selection of food and drinks etc.
I will go back to HKG again at some point but Australia/NZ is probably next on the cards for early next year and I am planning on the long way there via the USA.....
I just love travelling!

I loved the report of Cheung Chau. I'm working on a report about that trip now. Did you do the big walk around the island? I think i would have rather visited the island when it was cooler like when you went. I nearly died *figuratively* when I visited in August

Mr, Peter01, have the pics of your return leg on the A380 disappeared or am i going a bit blind from reading too many trip reports?

Thanks for reading although as jcm9000 has correctly pointed out I forgot to add the A380 photos for the return!
(Pete toodles off to sort that.......)
I didn't do the whole walk just parts and with hindsight I should have maybe hired a bike. I def will the next time and another excuse to go back.
Yes the end of May to the end of August is hot, humid and sometimes very wet. Early May or late September is much more to my liking.
I look forward to reading about your experiences there

Additional Photos HKG-LHR
The rear UD mini economy cabin. I was in seat 80K (Exit Seat)
The vieW from 80K. The loo was fairly close but it didn't seem to be used much on this overnighter. I'd imagine that on a daytime flight then it would have been much busier and more foot traffic.
Better with an aisle seat possibly due to the IFE boxes. You can still stretch out though.
Salmon starter and then Chinese Beef and rice. Nice. (Sorry re the blurry photo!)
UD biz Class loo. Big!
Business Class Seat 50A on the UD. 50K is the same so if you like a window.......avoid!!

The full walk will most likley require you to walk the bike on a major portion so i suggest that before or after doing the loop of the island.
