Thanks for the TR and the pics! Bucharest & Transylvania have both been on my list for a while. Looks like I should make a little more effort to get there!

Question to the OP - you mentioned you hired a private driver on day 2. Can you please share some more details on this? Did you use the concierge at the IC to do the hiring or did you find the driver yourself? Did he charge you extra so he could drive home at night? :p

That's how I should have done Romania instead of my previous experience there ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I hired the private car through the IC concierge (was charged to my bill), but I have his contacts, I'll PM you later this week when I'm back in Sibiu. He was great, knew a lot about the city, and used to work for the Ministry of Defence, and was in the middle of everything when the revolution exploded! Some great insights!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I think my trip there was more peaceful then yours! :D

Though I have to thank you, since your TR inspired me to write this one, and made me even more curious about Bucharest. I kept thinking about the chair in the hospital! And like you, I also hit the kebab joints :D

Fantastic trip report, glad you enjoyed Bucharest. I was there this time last year and loved it - Lipscani (the old centre) is great at night, so many bars. And the women - my god they are beautiful!

I think we ate falafel wraps in the same kebab place and also the one opposite which you said could have been closed - great food from both places! Great food everywhere really.

Also good info about the taxi machine at the airport, didn't know about that. We walked all the way round to the departures and picked up a taxi that had just dropped someone off and was just as cheap.

Yeah after we left the hospital it was better, and yes Dristor was delicious...we'll most likely go back, although we're in no rush
