Agree. It must not be the entire completed report, but it should have something substantial from the start.

i personally do not care. if you do not have your trip done, i will probably just review and notice the same and likely never return until it shows up on the first page and is done.

Hate being left hanging waiting for the next installment. I don't mind no photos as long as it's not just an itinerary.

I quite like photos, long passages of text seem to lose my interest very quickly.

I do agree that it's a bit mad to have about six or seven pages set aside for a future trip though, wait until you are back and drip feed it to us.

I'd go for complete reports only, and they have to be posted in their entirety on this site, not a link to a 3rd party site.

No need for photos - I feel uncomfortable taking them in aircraft and have had positive comments on my text only contributions.

I totally agree. Can't stand a TR that starts with an introduction of a trip to be taken in a month or two...we all have trips coming up, what we are on this page for is to read about trips that have already taken place or are at a mid-point with one leg completed...As for pics, I always prefer them.

I agree that substantial part of the report should be posted and then updated. Can't stand "reserved" posts. I like to open a thread and click on "view first unread" and continue reading.

Agree - I am tired of reading reports with a opening description only to have to wait weeks/months/forever to see the whole thing.

Yes that's true. Writing a full does indeed take some time, so I suppose having a substantial part of it finished should be OK. The worst example I've seen was one guy starting a thread saying "I'm posting this thread in case I feel like writing a report in the future".

Is there a way to get a notification on a new post to a thread ONLY IF it is by the OP? I'm not so interested to get an email (either instant or daily) that just says "Nice Tr. Great photos!". I have posted that myself a few times, because I enjoyed their report and wanted to give some encouragement.

As to photos, not necessary in my book. Just read the master Eightblack and you see he does just fine without (I did enjoy seeing him on the roller coaster though).

I wonder if people would be able to finish their reports if they didn't have to show every menu, glass of wine, cookie, amenity kit etc. I think people have grandiose ideas, but they just are too difficult to do (like many home improvement projects). I have the general idea that food in F is better than the food in Y and that the leg room increases when you have a better seat...

I do agree that having a full a trip report is the best way to go; however, I recognize that it may not be necessarily feasible as most of us have lives away from FT and may not have time to post a full report months later.

I don't have a problem with reports uploaded in chunks, and in some respects it may be the best way to go given the flow of comments in relation to the report itself. I agree it is very annoying to see someone post a great itinerary and then never show up again.

As far as pics, go... Eh, it's really not a big deal to me whether or not there are pictures. Some here are great writers, others of us not so much. Either way pictures should add substance to the report itself, and not used to pad a report. I love food porn as much as the next guy, but if you're going to post multiple pictures of the same dish please shake it up a little. May be from a different angle perhaps...

Anyways, that's just my $0.02...

I am an avid reader but not poster in the TR section. I have no strong feelings eiether way and will go along with the majority. I do think a good compromise should be that at least one leg should have been taken and so the first report would be an interim report. I prefer some photos as they add to the TR but are not the substance of them.
