We haven't yet been to the Maldives and are really looking forward to our Thanksgiving trip.
Thanks for your input, I will work on that in my next TR installment, hopefully I don't have to wait too long. But most of all, we await your Thanksgiving trip!

Thanks for your kind words, just when I thought this thread has floated into the oblivion.

You WILL enjoy that place! We are planning on going back next year as well!

How does this work exactly?

I thought you are allowed just one stop over?

Otherwise you have to do separate one ways?

Or is this a Round the World Itinerary which allows various stops?

It was 200,000 miles EACH?

No, only round trip allows 1 stopover, what I did was layovers, a stint that's lesser than 24 hours. The cost, in terms of miles, is 60k/person in business from Chicago to Maldives, and 40k/person in business from Maldives to Hong Kong. So in total, 200k for the both of us.

Nice report

Really nice, flyhen. I want to see the Maldives one day, and now with this inspired report, I may just do it!

Thanks for the trip report! Since I will be on TK C into IST, I was especially appreciative of your plane- and ground-based photos/commentary.

Thanks for your words. I strongly urge you to go, be it with the Hyatt Chase Visa bonus, or others, it will be a memorable on, I guaranteed.

Thanks! I forgot to mention in the pictures, that little plant in the middle of the Islamic Facade, is a 150-year old olive tree. Pretty cool!

Thanks AW, you missed it no more~

You are not the only one that misses the Maldives. We plan on going back again after our upcoming Swiss and Iceland Trip in the coming months. Safe travels.

Why did you end your trip (using miles) in HKG, and not ORD? For 240k miles total you could have done same trip back to ORD, using your stopover in HKG, and MLE as the destination. 40k for 2 people to fly from HKG-ORD is a great deal.

Reason I ask is I'm currently planning:
YUL-FRA-GVA (stopover)
GVA-FRA-IST-MLE (destination)
MLE-SIN (layover)
SIN-TYO (layover)
TYO-ORD-YUL

Great point! We did not think of this at that moment. Seriously, we didn't think of that. It would totally work for us, as we did go from HKG-ICN-SFO-ORD later in 2013, still within the ticketed date.

Thanks~ I will keep that in mind next time around.
