First time for me to make a list like this. I usually fly back and forth to the same places, so I'm glad I also visited two new countries this time.

New Countries: United Arab Emirates, Hungary

New Airports: DXB, BUD, MUC

New Airlines: Emirates, Lufthansa
New Planes: CRJ-900. Also booked two flights on the A380, but both got cancelled due to the infamous cracks.

Shortest Flight: Rotterdam - Munich 409 miles
Longest Flight: Amsterdam - Incheon 5311 miles

Best Service: Incheon - Amsterdam on Korean Air
Worst Service: Dubai-Amsterdam on Emirates
Best Airport: Incheon as always

Total Flights: 10
Total Miles: 44602 miles or 71780 km

Trigana and Kalstar, did you book those at CGK, or at a travel agency in Indonesia, or...? Cash only, if you don't mind my asking?

How was Egypt this year? I understand that with the ongoing protests and clashes, there are some issues in Cairo and other major cities, but are Giza et al relatively undisturbed?

About 215K BIS once we do IAH-DCA, IAD-ADD-MBA-ZNZ-ADD-LLW-LIX-LLW-JNB-HKG before January 1:

71 new lines and 27 new dots on the map once it's all said and done.

New countries were Uzbekistan (amazing), Kazakhstan (sucked), Bermuda (awesome), Slovakia (okay), Switzerland (awesome), Slovenia (amazing), Macau (okay), Ukraine (awesome), Latvia (transit only), and still waiting for Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi and Mozambique.

Most enjoyable new destinations in countries already visited were the Black Hills of South Dakota, Yellowstone, Beech Mountain (NC), Gros Morne National Park (Newfoundland), The Garden Route (South Africa), and Lake Akan (Hokkaido, Japan).

Complete routing was:

Code:
UGC-TAS-ALA-FRA-IAH, HOU-ABQ-ELP-SAT-ATL-MKE-MSP-IAH-GSP-IAH-CLE-BUF-EWR-IAH-SEA-IAH-PHX-IAH-BOS-IAH-DFW-TUS-LAX-IAH-LAX-CLE-IAH-DFW-RAP-DFW-IAH-BWI-IAH, HOU-DAL, DFW-MIA-MEX-DFW-SAT, IAH-SEA-IAH-LGA, EWR-IAH-EWR-BDA-EWR-IAH, AUS-FLL-AUS, HOU-ATL-CLT-EWR-HNL-PHX-IAH-DEN-BZN-DEN-IAH-MCI-IAH-IAD-ZRH-LJU-BRU-ORD-IAH-AUS-IAH-EWR-YYT-YDF, YYT-EWR-IAH, HOU-PHX-IAH-ATL-YUL-LGA-IAH-FRA-VIE-AMS-ORD-IAH-SLC-BTM-SLC-IAH-HRL-SAT, IAH-SLC-GEG-MSP-IAH-ORD-TOL, CLE-DFW-IAH, HOU-LAX-HKG-JNB-CPT-GRJ-JNB-EZE-IAH-LGA-BGR-DTW-IAH, HOU-PHX-LAS-HOU, AUS-IAH-PDX-IAH-AUS, IAH-AMS-KBP-RIX-ZRH-FLR-CDG-IAH, HOU-ATL-CLT-PHX-HNL-IAH, HOU-ELP-LAX-HND-KUH-HND-HNL-IAH-SLC-SFO-SLC-IAH, HOU-OJC, MCI-DEN-LAR-DEN-DFW-IAH-DCA, IAD-ADD-MBA-ZNZ-ADD-LLW-LIX-LLW-JNB-HKG

New Countries: Belarus, Czech Republic, Singapore, Myanmar (for the mistake fare, of course), South Africa, Namibia, San Marino

New Airports: PRG, MSQ, ZRH, JNB, WVB, JAN, SIN, RGN, YVR, BLQ, MUC

New Airlines: TG, MI, SQ, B2, LX, SA

New Planes: 388 (including in F on the new TG one, C on SQ), 343, 332

New International Premium Services: TG F and C, SQ C, DL C, B2 C, MI C

Shortest Flight: JAN-MSY 161 miles following a diversion for weather.

Longest Flight: SIN-LHR 6,760 miles

Best Service: JFK-YVR, CX F
Worst Service: LGW-MSQ, B2. Admittedly this is because it was a CRJ, and the experience was salvaged by the FA who was attractive and wore some really sexy boots that were probably not compliant with many regulations.
Best Airport: BKK, but I confess it has to do with the TG spa treatment
Worst Airport: LHR, as always

Total Flights: 38
Total Miles: 83,636

They were both through a travel agent. I actually didn't deal with the agent, a friend of mine did. I just wired the money to his account as part of a trip to see Orangutans in Kalimantan. We were supposed to take Trigana for both flights but the first was unexpectedly canceled and so we were put on Kalstar though the Trigana flight still ended up flying that day anyway. Kalstar was definitely the better of the two.

I see you folks all had more new experiences than me this year: despite racking up 120,900 BIS miles across 48 flight segments this year (including forthcoming Christmas trip), I've managed precisely 0 new countries, 0 new airlines and only 1 new airport (Bologna).

Not a terribly exciting year, but our wedding and honeymoon were certainly two fantastic highlights.

New Countries: Argentina, Uruguay

New Airlines: Copa, Aerolinas Argentinas, Alaska Airlines (Horizon)

New Airports: PTY, EZE, FTE, REL, USH, CHS

Shortest Flight: SJC-LAX (308 mi.)

Longest Flight: IAH-EZE (5,062 mi.)

Total Number of Segments: 45

Total Number of BIS Miles: ~43,000

2013 should be far more interesting, with expected highlights including my first-ever premium longhaul flight(s) and, if all goes to plan, my first time reaching *Gold.

Whilst not completely finished (I'm currently on the first leg of my last trip of the year), I've surprised myself this year.

In only 18 segments (including the one's I'll be flying today) I've managed:

3 new types (787, MD-11, MD-90)
3 new sub-types (318, 321, 333)
1 new passport stamp (Korea)
4 new airports (ICN, OKA, HND, SFO)
2 new airlines (OZ, NH)
My first logo jet! (KLM's retro 738).

I'm pretty happy with that.
