What a great report, thank you.

And especially thank you for confirming a) my view that at 6' 3 I shall do whatever is in my power never to fly in Y ever again, and b) that when we arrive at ORD, Mrs Lem and I will have to run like crazy...

So might be on my 2nd glass of Bolly Rose so far (and a nice big glass at that), so this probably will come out all muddled

Thanks michiflyer. Glad you enjoyed the report You can keep up to date with the glasses of alcohol I've had so far (as well as other observations) at http://boardingarea.com/blogs/ghettoife/tag/hkgiii/

Glad you enjoyed darthlemsip.

At 6ft 3"... yes... Y is never a good idea. Saying that there is good Y and bad Y. Bad Y being AA... Good Y was Swiss today (and the exit row in an A320 with BA).

Running like crazy at ORD isn't required, but I'd powerwalk to immigration. I've done rough math that one switchback is about 10-15 minutes of waiting. If there's more than 4 switchbacks, get the ebook reader out. It's going to be a LONG wait.

I heard the legroom on AA is being reduced to 31"? The only thing I liked about AA was the 32" legroom.

The meals in my opinion are the pits. Just as bad as UA but at least you get cheese.

Meals on BA are great but legroom is 31."

I've read all of your reports thus far but never saw it where you mentioned you were lactose intolerant..

As far as AA in Y, It'll be interesting they add MCE (their version of E+) to their fleet. I've flown on several 752 flights thus far with it and the increased leg room is noticeable and appreciated.

Great report as usual!

You are a natural in taking photos on the run using a DSLR. As much as I love taking photos using my DSLR, I have found using it at the airport and during flight too burdensome. I guess I will need to try it often and get use to it.

BTW, is Lightroom running a lot of memory on you laptop? How much memory do you suggest to be adequate to run Lightroom efficiently?

It may had been 32" in the seat, but it sure didn't feel like it on the outbound. On the inbound it was a bit more than 32", but a foot cutout would be a wonderful thing for those 767's.

Although the main meals are pretty much a competition in "how cheap we can get", AA wins in terms of little additional's (and the 2nd service on the outbound)

And I agree with you - BA meals are good. I'll have a fair bit to write about them shortly

Thanks Bretteee

Ahh. I should explain. In the recent past, I've had 3 bouts of food disagreement issues (normally ending in food exiting the wrong orifice, or a trip to the doctor). It was concluded that milk/milk based products didn't help a lot.

Therefore, I'm laying off the lacto-products for now (unless I have some drugs - conveniently, I have some now, but my default position is to avoid it...)

I've noticed this too - and it looks great when they introduce it into the 777-300ER (and also will remain 3-3-3 in MCE). I'll be avoiding the 777-300ER's in Main Cabin. 3-4-3 in 31"... ouchie...

Thanks fieldeng

I've found a few things out recently. A decent camera strap makes life a lot easier with a low weight lens. These days, I keep my iPhone5 to hand for travel to/from the airport, and switch to the DSLR when I clear security (as I'm down on travel cargo at that point).

Phone camera have their place - and the quality of them in improving with each new iteration.

Lightroom is a hog. I run 8GB RAM just for lightroom, and it will consume everything I throw at it. If I slimmed my photo library down a bit (from the current 63k of images), I'm sure it'd be a lot faster..

Another good one Kev. ^

"Chiltern Railways".....lovely name that. Conjures up images of a steam train passing through the rolling English countryside stopping at chocolate box villages along the way.
