Great TR blueline...I'm not tough enough to spend that much time alone (it looked like it was just you) but it looked like you had a great time.

Enjoyed the trip report. I've had Amanpulo on the list of a while now, so it was disappointing to hear about the food quality and the $100 shopping trip add ons.

I think one of the best parts of your report is that the beaches are quite wide. I was fortunate enough to come back from the Maldives recently and the smaller islands there tend to have narrower beaches as compared to what you have pictured in your report at Amanpulo. Personal preferences I guess - however the larger ones that you have shown are definitely more photogenic than the narrow wide sand beaches that I experienced off of India.

That Buffet at Sofitel looked great too!!

Worderful report OP. I am curious to know how much the buffet at Sofitel with so much variety costed you?

Great report, thanks for sharing. After living in the Philippines for several years, I was not even aware of Amanpulo. I had to look it up to find out it is part of Palawan (technically).

I would take filipino food any time, I think it is great but to each his own. Appreciate the mention of Under the Bridge, looking forward to trying it.

Many thanks for the kind words! To answer your question, it was about 2500 PHP or about $60, and was well worth it. There must have been well over a 1000 dishes to try there, and most were of excellent quality. For example, the Chinese style chicken and black been sauce was great, and was not just 'another dish' to slip into the buffet; they were all restaurant quality dishes for the most part.

Many thanks for your feedback! I probably should have made it clearer in my TR, that Amanpulo is located on a private island that only contains this particular resort. It is just over an hour south of Manila, in the province of Palawan, as you point out. That is why you do not see any people in the pictures; even at 80% capacity, the island is basically deserted (in the truest sense - LOL).

I enjoyed your TR, thanks for sharing. A quick note about the custom delays you experienced, look into signing up for your Nexus card (which will give you Global Entry for the US as well). You'll end up not worrying about those lines anymore.
