Glad you enjoyed Me2E. It's back to more traditional Kevincm territory in October in Economy Class.... and I'll try and make it as entertaining as possible

As entertaining as usual Kevincm, thanks for a great read ^

That LCY service is one of the few I would actually really look forward to on BA although I always hope for something good on BA F

That's the trick it seems after reading multiple BA F reviews... it varies way too much.

At least with CWLCY you know what you're going to get, and it's delivered in a constant fashion. These are good things to me.

Thanks NoY.... it's back to Y next trip

Interesting report Kevincm.

I will be flying the BA0004 service in a few weeks so it was nice to get a feel for what I would be in for.

Glad you enjoyed putongo. If in business class, and there are bubbles - it would be rude to say no. The fact I have a camera by my side normally is besides the point....

BA004 is very much a sleeper flight - with a choice of maximising snooze time or nibbling then snoozing... then breakfast.

I chose the latter as I wasn't due in the office the next day... and I maximised the experience.

BA1/2/3/4 are very different flights to your average Club World flights, and should be treated as such. Although I'd sit near the front of the plane if you want your food in a hurry...

Thanks Moomba

My you're living it up these days are you not?

I don't like it when you travel in the posh seats it just doesn't feel right. I much prefer when you're down the back with your ghetto IFE to be honest.

Nonetheless a great report with some super pictures including the red door I notice. ^
I fear this service isn't going to last so you might have been lucky to experience it. Apart from the DUB pre clearance issue I hear it hasn't been attracting quite as many premium passengers it was aimed for. I've even been tempted to try it myself....there's super cheap fare from GRU to London via JFK using this service.

I'm hoping so too GodAtum. That trip was a disaster by any long measure.

Still it's provided entertainment to the masses, and I do like to entertain occasionally

Glad you enjoyed GodAtum.

Maybe. When the fare is cheap and there's an opportunity to try something new, I'll happily try it...

Worry not dear heart. I'm back in an economy seat at the back of a plane next month. I do have a Chicago trip from April to write up, but lets say it was instantly forgettable.

Sums up "The New United" rather well...

Thanks HIDDY. There are some constants in my reports, and that red door that leads into my flat is one of those constants.

After all, even after every trip, you have to come home eventually - no matter how long you've been away.

It's worrying. Perhaps they're missing key people and the corporate contracts are being pushed back. Certainly for 1200 they were "giving" away the seats (compared to the usual AP purchase costs).

Pre-clearance at SNN is the star feature. By taking this away for BA3, I can sadly see this being shrunk to a 1 time a day service for a bit until things pick up.

At least the A318's can be configured into heavier modes if needed.

As I've said, I rate this above my Asiana First Class experience in some ways because of the crews who work this service to give it something very special, and if you do get a chance to try it... it's not your varible CW or F experiences that I keep reading about elsewhere. It's a solid product through and through.

Superb stuff as always. Heartening to see the technical hitches didn't prevent you from taking your usual superb set of photos. ^

Glad to see you sampling a little luxury, but cant wait to read about your next adventures sat on an economy stool with a only a sickbag for company.

In some ways I'm glad I ended up in New York. One of the few places in the world where if something went wrong - it could be fixed or sorted quickly.

Glad you like the photos Circumknowitall, although I was near the edge of the old axiom "The best camera you have is the one that is in your hand".

I prefer to give myself at least a small fighting chance

It's not too far away. I get to try new airlines, eat food on a tray and ponder the meaning of life at 2:45 in the morning waiting for the National Express to take me on my next trip....

The Chicago trip isn't the epic though. The real epic is in November... which puts last year Denver trip into nothing....

Thanks Circumknowitall.

Whilst Adobe Lightroom isn't a requirement, I find it helps with my Photography workflow (mainly due to the sheer amount of photos I shoot on a trip), as well as making mass changes and fine tuning images (from colour correction to noise reduction) and image management (although my laptop does disagree with the size of my library as it's about 800GB or so... give or take 20GB.)

Saying that, Adobe did cut the price of Lightroom down a lot on its last release ($149 retail or $114.95 on Amazon), which makes it more affordable than it was in the past.

A good report on the service from LCY! A very enjoyable read.

I do have to question your mentality in buying another camera simply because the 50D was dirty? It's a bit extreme? Even with the most simple of cleaning tools, such as a visible dust brush i can get 95% of the stuff off my sensors (5D2/5D3) leaving only a very small amount to clone out. Even if the sensor is filthy the time spent cloning out dust spots is surely better than shelling out for a camera?

It seems the damage to the 50D was much more nasty than anticipated.

The very first clean, I managed mess up so bad that I smeared the sensor.

The second clean, I got rid of the smear, but a later clean revealed some bad news - dust that won't move (and a seriously contaminated sensor, with nasty little scratch... writing off the camera

Cloning whilst an effective method gets repetitive with the amount of images I shoot (1600 images a day on average), and throws a lot of problems for the long time/low aperture stuff.

The bottom line... I needed to keep shooting, and I needed something with a bit of reliability - hence why I picked up a Canon 40D (that I'm shooting my current trip reports with), and its serving a blinding job.

It may be extreme, but there are worse places in the world to have a dead camera and to get a new one in a hurry...

... and I've learned to leave sensor cleaning to professionals.

Thanks chris78cpr.
