The Yotel LHR

I had a overnight in LHR and instead of going to the usual HI or other properties on Bath rd, I decided to give this Yotel a try.
For those unaware of what Yotel is, it is a hotel based on cube rooms maximizing the space to the fullest. What you get is a tiny room which has everything you need for a overnight. The hotel was located in T4 which isn't the easiest to get to including if you are arriving/leaving T5. But I made my way in and checked in. I made a reservation online and you can rent the rooms by the hr if for instance you have a day layover. Complaint i have is that they charge a credit card fee. Next to the hotel is a pub where you can grab some food. Checkin was quick and I made my way to the room.
The room was small - very small. I'd compare it to a bit bigger than a arrivals shower room. But it was well planned out. The rain down shower didn't cause splashing and proper ventilation where the room wasn't all damp after a hot shower. The bed was comfy and there was a TV at the foot of the bed. Plenty of outlets to charge. A pop up desk and a fold able chair also were some of the features along with free wifi. For one night it is a good place to overnight. I don't think more than 1 person would fit in the room, nor if you had some large suitcases.

I was going to try the Yotel late last year but it seemed easier to stay on Bath Road or near-by.
Was looking at arriving at 4pm and checking out around 7am and this came in at around £85-90. The Premier Inn was going for half that and has a shuttle bus that goes to T5 so saved money and some bussing around.

That said, might be something to try once out of curiosity if the price is right or if you're departing T4.

The double rooms are supposed to be the better option as you get more space.

Is the lighing all purple or are there normal lights? Seems like you're in something out of Bladerunner or in some seedy red light district with the neon lights ;)

http://www.yotel.com/Hotels/London-Heathrow/Book is the best place to look, as it varies by time.

You can switch off the coloured lights if you like and use normal white / warm lights as well or instead.

Do you get a keycard for the room or is it opened by the card you paid with?
I assume you can come and go as you please then?

You get a regular hotel style keycard, come and go as you please.

Keep in mind that Yotel LHR is past customs, and that can make a difference with connections. My better half and I overnighted at the Yotel recently, coming back to the states on an evening flight out of Barcelona that required an overnight layover. After we finally cleared customs in T3, we found there was no way to get to T4 except by cab -- no buses were running -- and just about all the food service had closed for the night save for the coffee shop. The next morning, we almost missed our return flight by 1) underestimating the time it would take to get back to T3 in the AM, and 2) making the mistake of asking Yotel's desk staff for gate information which turned out wrong. We actually liked the bed and the cozy accommodations, but I'm really not sure it's the best choice for anyone who would have to switch terminals.

Wow, it looks just like my Yotel room at AMS.
