Pompeii - The Ruins
Posted this report about a recent visit to Pompeii. An unbelievable place you have to see to appreciate!

I visited Pompeii & Herculaneum early last January. I felt Herculaneum was a much more interesting site. It was a fraction of the size but it seemed like you were as restricted as to what you could see like in Pompeii.
Both however are amazing sites worth checking out. We took the speed train (pricey but worth the time you save) from Rome and went for a long day. |
A couple of years back, while staying in Sorrento I took the local train to Pompeii. I got there about 3:30pm and was told admission was free at that time. I opted not to go for a guide, but just wandered around on my own-- although I did 'listen in' at various spots to some of the guides giving tours. It is truly an amazing site
