QR Business Class : DOH-SIN-DOH - loads of pics

Introduction

I headed to Singapore on QR for a brief weekend away. This was my first time in Singapore and also onboard QR’s 777s. I was travelling in Business Class and was thrilled with the quality of the product. The seating, catering, service and entertainment were all top notch.

I will let the pictures do the talking from now on.

This feature is really nifty – when you are lying down in bed mode there are controls that are easy to reach inside the seat shell:

Seat belt:

IFE control unit:

IFE (AVOD) menu (I watched Flags of our Fathers later in the flight):

Moving map – we are heading eastbound over the UAE towards Oman and the Indian Ocean:

Menus are delivered in a leather folder:

QR has dine on demand in Business Class, but I was ready for breakfast so I ordered the fruit with greek yoghurt and the pancakes – and it was really tasty:

The napkin has a button hole so that you can fasten it to your shirt and it will stay put during turbulence:

As I was finishing my breakfast we headed out over the Indian Ocean:

QR has a nice Oryx logo in the entrance to the aircraft which is illuminated during the cruise:

I enjoyed an ‘indulgence’ before landing, the beef teriyaki wrap and again it was superb:

Lemon drink and chocolates:

Pleasant mood lighting after the cabin got dark, perhaps 45 minutes before we approached SIN:

Nearly there!:

View of the City from my window as we approached Changi:

Part 2 – A few shots of Singapore

Part 3 – SIN-DOH

Aircraft: Boeing 777-200LR
Seat: 5F
Film watched: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Koi pond at Changi:

Glass of water onboard – I discovered that the trays for drinks slide out to reveal a water bottle stowage area!:

Palate pleaser – green papaya salad in rice paper roll with chilli – excellent!

Menu:

For dinner, again dine on demand, I started with the seafood and then had the curry. Both were really excellent. And then I had a scoop of delicious vanilla ice cream:

The mood lighting made the cabin a really pleasant environment to sit and relax in:

The illuminated seat controls were quite cool:

As we headed off into the night I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 on the IFE:

Verdict

Seat: The fully flat seats are wide, spacious and comfortable. They are significantly larger in both length and breadth than BA’s Club World seats and neither too soft nor too firm. The 2-2-2 configuration on the 777 allows the cabin to feel very roomy indeed and the window seats have plenty of elbowroom between the arm and the fuselage. Overall, excellent.

Catering: Great food and drink. The breakfast, indulgence and dinner were all made of quality ingredients, well presented and tasty. Portion size was perfect, neither too big nor too small. Overall, excellent.

Service: Cabin Crew were attentive and personal without being obsequious. The flight got off to a great start when I was welcomed on board and all the amenities and menus were described to me and continued at the same high standards through both legs. Nothing was too much trouble for these crew. Overall, excellent.

Entertainment: Plenty of choice of movies and music. No issues here. Overall, excellent.

Wow, that was a GREAT TR! Thanks for all the pictures! QR has a very nice product. You can tell they pay fine attention to detail - with things like the very nice hand towel, the napkin with shirt button hole, etc. And all in Biz... very nice.
