Part IV
Part 1: DL LGA-DTW-HKG Part 2: Sheraton towers Hong kong Part 3: W hotel Hong Kong Part 4: Macau Part 5: DL HKG-NRT BusinessElite http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip-...l#post16569072 MACAU From the W hotel in Kowloon to the Hong Kong side is very easy. The Hotel is located right above the Elements Mall and the Kowloon MTR Station. The Hong Kong subway system is very efficient, clean and most importantly all air-conditioned. (I wish New York was like this) http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/de90294d.jpg MTR subway map http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/d9093ece.jpg Air Conditioned subway system After a quick transfer from Kowloon -> Hong Kong Station -> Sheung Wan 15mins I arrived at my station and headed to Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal (港澳碼頭). I booked a one way helicopter ride on Sky Shuttle to Macau. The flight would be only 15 minutes, but it was 15 minutes of fun. Entering immigration I proceeded to the private elevator to the top floor, and entered the sky shuttle lobby. I handed my passport to the attendant, weighed with my carry bag and entered the security scanners. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/175c7426.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/5a98cd59.jpg A light buffet was served before the flight and about 5 minutes later the attendant handed me my passport with a arrivals card already filled out with my details. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/5589121c.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/607783a1.jpg There would be 7 passengers including myself on todays flight. Ear plugs handed out, I followed the attendant to the helipad and boarded the 9 seater helicopter ready took for a 15 minute thrill ride to Macau. Once we landed I was escorted through the private Macau immigration for Sky Shuttle guest and a moment later I was ready for my 3 hour adventure. once cleared through there are lots of people standing around selling tours and hotel sales before exiting to a mass of model-esk girls holding signs for the shuttle buses to various hotels throughout both islands. I took the free hotel shuttle to the MGM Hotel. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/5a82074f.jpg Helipad departure http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/900400f5.jpg take off http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/2fff4849.jpg Macau http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/1fe8a8f0.jpg Macau Tower http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/2352f165.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/2783d2e6.jpg MGM Hotel http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/9ea8f5ae.jpg Entrance MGM Hotel http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/ac791aeb.jpg outside MGM hotel http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/23eae842.jpg city living Macau http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/ab49543d.jpg Vegas of Asia After 3 hours roaming around Macau, I headed back to the port, this time I would travel via the high speed ferry back to Hong Kong. I bought a super class ticket and headed to immigration. The front Super Class cabin was 100% full and all Westerners filled the cabin. It would take 60 mins from Macau to Hong Kong. It was pretty much smooth sailing back to Hong Kong and the time went by fast. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/a0896676.jpg Macau Port, notice the sign is in chinese and Portugese http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/241298a3.jpg Ferry http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/4efedca7.jpg Super Class cabin http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...c/c91bfff2.jpg Meal served on board A light snack was served on the ferry and one we arrived in hong kong they closed off the economy section to let the super class off. Sweet! Part 5: DL HKG-NRT BusinessElite |

Beautiful skyline Hong Kong island. How does that compare to Manhattan?

Thanks for doing this trip report on Macau.
IMHO, Macau is underrated and under-appreciated. It is less hectic than being in HK. I can relax and stroll in Macau and feel less pressured. I also did a trip report on Macau last year: Photo Trip Report: The Macau Differences -Turbojet Across the Mouth of Pearl River! |

The view from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island is truly incredible and even though the view of Manhattan is great, Hong Kong skyline with the mountain in the background is better.
