I'm humbled by the comparison. There's loads of great writers on FT and eightblack is certainly one of the best.

I've been mainly posting in The/Teh Penalty Box over in the CO forum, contributing to the dumbing down of the discourse over there for the past few years. Example.

I seem to be a magnet for all things bizarre when I travel. When I have time to collect my thoughts I'll try and remember to share them in the TR forum. Certainly nothing as exotic as EK F, just a lot of trips in coach in airplanes that are modeled after lawn darts.

Well played. If I had taken down the cell phone number of the gentleman sitting behind me I might call him and inform him of this delicious bit of trivia, to which he'd most likely reply: how are you calling my TV remote?

Wouldn't have expected anything less from you, sir. :-:

(and once again, I really am very glad that you got your iPod back)

If you haven't read the account of his wedding day, you are missing out. That is all.

Thank you. This was hilarious. Who would have thought a US Airways Shuttle TR would be up there with the best? Gifted.

First time I've read a trip report. Excellent writing and definitely belongs in a book.

No he's not. I think he's rubbish.

This was an excellent piece of writing. I for one, would buy you a drink and love to hear your war stories. Bravo! Keep the content coming...

What do you expect from the blue shirted clerks? I am so sorry for the day you had but I have to tell you I have not laughed so hard in ages! Did you ever find the snow shovel?

Yes, a few of us (Maybe more than a few) actually want to see the two of you meet; and also fly in the same plane once (especially out of BOS).

That would be one-heck of a DO!

Thumbs up Bravo

I for one was going to give this TR a pass and had, after all, how can a mere shuttle flight be worthy of my time?... Something about it did catch my attention though because it kept popping up in the "new posts" sort that finally caused me to click...

absolutely brilliant writing and very enjoyable. I've actually paid money for worse (much worse if fact but that is a different story).

some of my favorite lines:

"...greater BOS area is apparently under attack by Canada..."

"...she looked at me like I had switched to Swahili..."

"...I told her I was driving into a tunnel and hung-up..."

"...I was fascinated at this way of travel ..."

"...attempting to have a conversation with an Easter Island head..." and "...I thanked Mr. Easter Island for his gracious assistance..."

"Crew was Philly based so they were absolutely miserable."

Thanks for taking the time to share your adventure!

HA. Now that was an unmitigated disaster.

If you're ever in NY and it's not a blinding snow-storm I'll take you up on it. Of course, I'll most likely not be in NY (I'm convinced FT is nothing more than a really elaborate joke perpetuated by Randy Peterson - where folks have intentions to meet-up but can never align schedules) but we can certainly try.

I've actually been tossing around the idea of writing a sitcom pilot centered around the inanity of travel (Wings meets Up in the Air meets Planes Trains and Automobiles) and would love to have you as a collaborator.

I'll see if I can whip up a few more TRs in the upcoming weeks. I have a war chest of at my disposal.

When the film crew for Ice-Road Truckers showed-up to film an episode on our driveway...

She actually read this TR yesterday and said "I'm sure this is amusing to folks who don't have to deal with you every day. But to me, this is a Tuesday."
