UA vs. DL on ORD-MSP in Y
Just an interesting comparison in terms of IFE, Lounge, and Beverage Service. I was going to post this in the DL or UA forum but thought a better place was here.
IFE:
DL: Nothing, AFAIK, unless headphones ($2) were offered, can't remember.
UA: Showed an episode of "30 Rock" with free headphones.
Lounge:
UA's Red Carpet Club
Free drinks, free WiFi, real cheese, crackers, wide assortment of cookies, 4 kinds of fresh veggies with dip, and several other snacks like yogurt raisins, nuts, bananas, apples, oranges, etc.
DL SkyClub
Free drinks, free WiFi, fake cheese, crackers, 2-3 kinds of cookies, carrots and celery with dip, bananas, apples, oranges, similar snack choices to UA.
Beverage Service:
DL: "Due to the duration of the flight, we will be unable to offer beverage service."
UA: Full beverage service.
Of course, other than that, things are similar. It's only an hour flight. But come on DL: an hour is too short for a drinks cart?

I've seen this happen on CLT-ATL before and sometimes ATL-MCO. All really depends on the flight crew and whether or not they want to get up. We're you on mainline DL or DL connection? (Not that it makes a difference in terms of the service standard but merely curious.

PHX-SAN is a 50 minute flight tops. WN will do a full drink service on that flight, US (west coast crew) will do a mini (coke, water, juice only) drink service. Now if its a east coast crew, the FA's in Y wont get out off the jump seats, but the FA in F is up serving pax's...

OP is talking about ORD-MSP, not PHX-SAN.
Maybe it is DL's policy, as when NW runs the route, they will do it for sure.
UA will do it, but can they do for every single pax on board especially on a 100% full flight ? No.

I was doing a compare and constrast of other airlines on the same flight time..
If WN can do it on a 50 minute route, then there is no excuse for other airlines not to be able to it.
