Best duck is in Seoul :)

You write really well - made me chuckle very loudly in my airport lounge atm (eek I am one of those loud people)

With Japan I think "mattress" is another term for brick, but doona (comforter) is another world for fluffy cloud that keeps you warm

we bought one in Tokyo - they are absoultely amazing

If they exported them .. Japan could take over the world

oh and the best duck is in korea - seoul

Snowy dark night, well lit restaurant as a beacon.

I despice duck, and yet this was AMAZING - we had no idea they were a one dish place until we plonked ourself on a mat.

But what a dish

packed full of locals - and not much english - best meal in the world - so far after 5 months of travel

Came across your thread by way of something, I was obviously spell bound normally like TR with pictures, but this surpasses all TR, wow I felt worn out at the end of reading, your feet never touched the ground, and think of all that champagne you drank. I admire you even if you are mad. Fantastic^

Thanks so much for your encouragement.

It's been a few months since I've been on a plane, and now this story feels like it happened to someone else.

I keep trying to savor the lingering fragments of my trip memories, but they're fading fast.

And with my current work schedule, no adventures are planned for at least a year.

Good grief!

The entire trip cost me 150,000 AAdvantage miles and about $200 in taxes.

Not anymore. This trip would today cost 330k miles in F, as OW awards have changed the distance calculations from stopover-stopover to the lengths of all segments.

This ~40k miles itinerary counted as something in the 10-14k range.
