CX, SQ A380, DL in Business

I was lucky enough to grab the Delta stock business fare from KUL-YVR and I was able to route it through Tokyo to take advantage of flying my first A380! Thanks again to the OP who posted the fare!

This is a quick photo report! [well some comments too :D ]

I only bought one way ticket from KUL-YVR. I booked a business award ticket with my AA miles from LAX-HKG-CGK. Stayed a few days in CGK, hopped on ValuAir to SIN to catch up with some old friends for a few days and finally flew to KL for an overnight to start this ticket.

Let's start with the CX business class! I have flown CX First before, but this was my first time in the new business seat. I got seat 19A as the front small cabin was already filled up.
One World First Lounge in LAX around 11 pm was chaotic and packed, with the Qantas flights leaving around the same time. Nothing special at the lounge as usual.

Boarding was quick and I got to use the "special" line. Flight attendants were very nice and professional, didn't try to chat with them as the cabin was completely full.
As for the seat, I don't mind it. It feels very private and the TV screen is definitely adequate! It didn't feel that cramped as others had reported. I slept fine for at least 6/7 hours.
The food was just alright. I expected more from CX but I was just too tired to care since it's a red eye flight.

I only had roughly 2 hours transit time in HKG before my flight to CGK. Went to the First Lounge to shower and grabbed some dim sum. Flight to CGK was uneventful on the awful regional business class seat!

KUL-SIN-NRT

Flight from KUL to SIN was quick. Some nasty sandwiches were served! The flight attendant made up for the flight though. She was genuine and enthusiastic. I will definitely consider flying MH on a long haul flight one day.

First time in SilverKris Business Lounge at Changi Airport. I was absolutely impressed with the lounge and the offerings. The design is contemporary and classy. It was pretty busy when I got there and it got even worse when I left. Plenty of food and booze throughout the lounge. I took a shower an hour before my flight to freshen up. The shower was nice enough. When I got out, there was already a long shower line.

I rushed to the gate filled with excitement! My first A380! Saw the whale parked at the gate, waltzed in to the upper deck and I knew I was in for a ride! The interior was beautiful, SQ did an amazing job fitting this aircraft. I was seated on 12A. The seat itself is just humongous, best Business seat in the sky as of today. I was able to sleep comfortably for a few hours in bed mode.

Service was great. It could be slow at times but mostly efficient and friendly. After my meal and few glasses of champagne and singapore slings, the flight attendant offered to turn my seat into bed mode. I slept for about 3 hours and woke up to the smell of breakfast. I wasn't that hungry but the look of the Japanese meal was just too good to pass. The Japanese meal was very nicely presented.

My first experience with the Whale ended too quickly. I wish the plane would keep going! The plane is definitely quieter than most planes I have been on. I wish I had taken the time to walk around and explore the different cabins, but I was simply too tired and lazy to leave my seat. I can't wait to get back on the A380. What a treat!

Arrival to NRT was early in the morning around 7. I headed to the transfer counter and apparently it doesn't open till 11 am. I made my way to the lounge around 8 am and asked for my boarding pass. The lounge doesn't offer check in service but they were nice enough to let me hang out in the lounge before the transfer desk opened up.

I have to say I was pretty impressed with the Delta/NW lounge in NRT. They are plenty of seating and windows. The food wasn't bad either. They had these Tuna Carpaccio Rolls that were really tasty. Lots of brand new Imacs for internet access.
So far so good!

After taking a long nap in a corner, it's time to freshen up for my next flight home.
The shower is nice but nothing compared to CX First Lounge showers.

Again it's my first time flying Delta Business Elite so I had no expectation. Upon boarding the ex-NW 747, I was pretty impressed. The cabin still looked pretty nice especially on the upper deck. Plenty of storage spaces. 2 friendly flight attendants greeted me and offered me a champagne right away.

Seat 77A has an unlimited leg room.

Overall I was impressed with Delta. The Japanese Meal was delicious, tasted better the SQ Japanese meal. I was happy. The service was consistent and friendly. Way to go Delta!

I saved all the menus but it's going to take too long to type them out. If anyone needs a copy, I will be gladly scan you a copy.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the pics and report. The CX food did look a bit disappointing. I have yet to try a flight on the A380, but the C seats look huge!

Wow! Its looks so impressive! I am never see Japanese food but, it was so delicious! I have already been flown in the J class by last year. It was so fabulous time where I flew in the BusinessElite class for my first-time. Maybe I will rather to do it again in the future if I can be upgradeable it into the J class.

Yes you should be able to use your BA miles to redeem Cathay awards. Good luck!
