Sicily Trip Report (ORD-FCO-PMO-CTA)

Hello --

I traveled solo to Palermo, Castel di Tusa, Taormina, and Ortygia/Siracusa in September. Had a wonderful time (with a few exceptions). Travelogue, with photos and lots of (linked) recommendations, here:

Great TR! Thank you for posting.

I only went to Taormina for 1 week and loved it.
Stayed in town and then on the beach.

You did not go to Mt. Etna? As to Rick Steves I find him very boring the way he speaks / tone of voice.I cannot listen to him for more than 2 minutes.

I don't drive shift. It costs a fortune to rent an automatic in Italy. I paid $240 for 1 day in Sardinia.

I love your trip reports!

I read your previous ones a couple of years ago, thanks for posting so I could rediscover your blog!

I probably *should* have gone to Mount Etna, but the organized tour interferes with my control issues.

Yeah, I don't drive stick shift either, but considering the cost I figured I'd learn.

I want to learn. Where did you learn and how. How many lessons?

Went to Mt. Etna on a bus tour from Taormina and it was an experience. When you get there you ride in a Mercedes bus with huge wheels.

God, I LOVE your reports, mitzyli! They feel so "real", it's like watching a documentary movie.

Keep 'em coming; your fans await with eager anticipation. (Selfishly hoping the job thing resolves to allow you plenty of travel in future. ^ )

Thanks, Cheetah.

Just returned from India and will post once I recoup from the jetlag.
