BWI to Orlando? Super high...when will they come down?

We are thinking about going to Orlando from Baltimore on Dec 27-Jan 3rd. It must be a popular week because the airfare is so high it will prevent us from going at all. (apprx. $288 per person 1 way). For all of you experts on airline rates, when should I watch to see if they will come down for that week if at all? Airtran and Southwest are comparable. Any tricks or tips would be appreciated!! Thanks so much!

The holiday season at Disneyworld tends to be bonkers. If you can go two weeks later, everything will be cheaper (flights, hotels, even rental cars).

Christmas falls on a Friday this year and the kids do not have to go back to school until the following Monday so we wanted to take the week in between without the kids missing school. It is probably what everyone is thinking.....it will be a non Disney vacation though...we would like to see other things in Orlando this trip....

I think this is going to be your problem. The cheap flights, if there were any, were probably sold long ago. Florida is a popular destination for the Christmas/New Years holidays. You could always drive. That way you would save on airfare and rental car cost.

If you're willing to fly on Christmas Eve or Christmas day and return 12/31 check out Southwest fares. I can see a roundtrip cost of $255 per person all taxes included.

What about alternate airports?

Orbitz has a nonstop on Airtran for the dates you want for just $129 roundtrip, if you can depart from DCA instead of BWI.

Thanks so much for that....I actually did try and buy that one, it took me to the end and then after I input all the info, it said it wasn't available. I called Orbitz and they said that they were not seeing it at all.....At least I know they are out there though
