First Time Flyer Need Help Finding Cheap Flight

Hello!
I am a first time flyer and I need help finding the cheapest flight possible. I need a round trip flight leaving on September 14 between 4 and 8 pm from somewhere somewhat close. I live in Richmond Va. So it is between RIC (Richmond), ORF (Norfolk Va) and Dulles (DC). I am going to CHA (CHATTANOOGA,TN). I am returning on September 17 anytime after 6pm.
I have been looking at all kinds of different sites and honestly I don't know what is a good deal and what isn't. This is new to me. I have always driven in the past. I will be traveling with my friend and he is pressed for time so we won't be able to drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your time!

Teresa :-)

Thank you so much! From what I can find $250 seems to be the best deal! Does anyone have any suggestions for the cheapest place to rent a car? I am also going to need to do that for two days. Thanks!

Teresa

Hi Teresa,

I would check out expedia, travelocity or orbitz, as they will compare different companies for you.

Pricing all depends on what you are looking for. Be careful to look at the fine print though. Some companies may include unlimited mileage, while others may only give you x miles per day.

Cheers,

Welcome to FT, Tweety!!!

Google says this can be driven in 8 1/2 hours. It also says that driving to Norfolk takes 1 1/2 hours. As a first time flyer you will probably try to arrive at the airport 2 hours in advance. Add those times up, and you could practically have already driven halfway to Chattanooga!

Given that you are going to need a rental car in TN, how about renting a car with unlimited mileage in Richmond and driving to Chattanooga and then driving back? By renting a car in Richmond, you put the miles on the rented car, not your own. If you get an economy car, even counting gas, you might well save a bit of money and can come and go on your own schedule.
